Subject: interrelation is broken

i've figured out pretty much everything else but this ONE PROBLEM i haven't! i want to know how to get andy (or any other character) to interpolate properly, like for example say i make 4 key frames where he's on a different side of a pole, and instead of smoothly rotating , he detaches from the pole spins around than reattaches on the other side, HOW DO YOU MAKE ANYTHING SMOOTHLY TRANSLATE!?!?!

Try making/loading a small dummy prop, and place it where its origin has the same X and Z coordinates as the pole. In frame 1, parent the guy to the dummy prop. In the last frame, Y-rotate the dummy prop.

Are you rotating the figure body or hip? You may need to add more than four key frames. Check the frames between your key frames and add new ones as needed. You might try posting a screen capture of your setup and/or maybe your animation palette for more helpful advice.

Your demo animation would be more useful if you slowed the play speed down.

Click the little white triangle beside each of the hip's rotation parameters, and open their graphs. The Y-rot should be a simple 90', as should the X-rot. Z-rot should remain zeroed.

I tried uploading a small demonstration to Renderosity but the site did not preview the animated .GIF properly. I'll write a quick page and upload a link to it instead.

the_lova_skul, I uploaded resources to http://www.ranquist.net/tutorial/interrelation.htm. It shows the quick animation I made after reading your post. I'm still using Poser 7 but, judging by the screen captures of your animation palette, things haven't changed there all that much. Best Wishes, R
