Phil Cooke used to make models but I think he's retired now. Even so, you could drop him a line.

mo·nop·o·ly [muh-nop-uh-lee]
noun, plural mo·nop·o·lies.
1. exclusive control of a commodity or service in a particular market,
or a control that makes possible the manipulation of prices
Most here are users of others meshes. They don't make there own meshes and there's very few mechs in the stores.
A lot of Pro's are here . Will not be cheap. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/ Pros use app's like ? Max ,Maya ,Modo ,C4D .Can always ask on there forums.
Amatures would be cheaper but there amatures. https://blenderartists.org/forum/index.php

Its not really going to be worth it for you if you are not planning on making any money off of him, (if you are ..go for it) Maybe only the feeling of seeing something you created (drawn) come to life in 3D which is a good feeling but thats about it Having someone create a custom model isnt cheap man.unless you work out something like they can sell it after the fact or split 50-50..?? But I dont think asking at Zbrushcentral or other places would be a wise choice because they do not (for the most part anyway) use poser or studio so even if you get someone to model it from one of those places chances are you may now have to come back and get someone who is good at turning it into a figure for the program you use (poser or studio) just be sure this is something you really want done and try to find the lowest priced/best quality option. Anyway good luck man. btw..he looks good

I don't know poser or daz rigs. but in main app's it's easy to move Lbows ,knees ,really don't even need to rig .but hydraulics and pneumatics rods can be a trick to rig. if you actually need them to move realistically. easy if there made like frozen part toys.
a real winch would be a nightmare in any 3D app.
not claiming to be any good at it but I've done 2D and I get why you want a 3D mech. you could just make it your self in https://www.blender.org/ it's Free .A lot of tutorials on youtube.

Yeah man its not hard,just...time consuming on modeling all those little screws and shapes. for some reason I think Rhino would be good to model this in..but anything would get the job done i guess.

Not too difficult. Most of the shapes are more or less primitives. Surface detail isn't too hard on the drawing, from what I can see. In any event, you'd only have to model half of it and mirror to get the full thing. Wings could do it easily enough.
Even the rigging doesn't look too much of a pain. I'd rather make and rig a hard surface model any day, than an organic thing. I have way too many things to deal with to even consider it myself, though.

Yeah its actually simple all mostly hard edge shapes and if symmetric even better.re position some pivot points here and there etc... but too be fair you and I and a few others know how to do that But to someone who doesn't know how to create items in 3D it can seem a bit overwhelming at first till they learn how to get it done.
@jimbottart I am actually a little more interested in the Feb 14 line art male/cyborg looking character you uploaded he looks real good and needs to come to life in 3D .lol

Just a thought here, but there's some serious talent and expertise in this thread. Therefore why don't we show the OP what we can do as a community and make it for Jim?
Obviously it would take some time for one person to do it alone, so why don't we make one part each. Get someone to do a basic rig, then let Jim texture it.
So to kickstart this here's the top part of the legs (.OBJ/.MTL with template), someone else chooses and makes another post, then uploads it here. Then someone else does the same. Once Jim's finished he (or maybe a mod) can upload it to rendo's freestuff.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
Jim - as it's really hard to tell someones skill level from a few posts, here's a simple explanation of what things are. So apologies if you know this stuff. What you see here isn't a fully formed model. Instead if you look at the zip file what you'll see is...
1 .OBJ file - thats the mesh - think of it like a part of an Airfix kit. An .MTL file - thats a file that tells the .OBJ what the materials are.
2 .BMP templates - think of these as like as pages in a colouring book. These are created by loading the mesh into software called a mapper. In very basic terms this flattens out the mesh so it can be painted, textured, drawn on etc.
2 JPG materials. These sample files are what you'd get after "colouring" in the texture templates and then applied these to the model.
PS - If anyone can improve on my description - please feel free.

Nice one, mate. I've almost finished the forearm, More info in a bit.

Here's what I came up with. It's a much lower poly model than usual, attempting to keep within the approach used by MrSparky's leg models. Both arm sections share the same texture map, although the arms themselves are in separate files. Template, texture and the two obj files will be included in the zip.

The Vanishing Point team have been making mech robots for the past 10 years. In fact, we released our Sentinel Mech in fbx format a last month and the Hawkslcaw Robot Mech for DAZ Studio before that. The Sentinel Robot Mech (for Poser) was released back in 2010 and was used as part of a video game in the 2012 movie Rock Jocks. Anyway, I see that mrsparky has already taken a shot at some of the parts... and he's the artist behind the textures on most of our robot mechs.
Send me a message if you'd like another model and I'll give you a time and price quote.

Sam - Nice one there. That's the exact kinda thing I was thinking about that we could all do. Hopefully someone else will pick up the mantle and make another bit.
John - yea guilty as charged :) and thanks for the reminder about Rock Jock's, I'd forget that Robert Picardo (the Doctor in Star Trek: Voyager) was in that one.
Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
My section is now up in Freestuff, for whoever wants to pick up the ball.

Hi, I'm looking to commission someone to build a custom rigged poser model of a robot. He's reasonably simple in design, I just need to draw him a lot and keep him consistent so I was hoping to get a poser model made as an easy point of reference. Could someone let me know which is the best board to post on for this kind of thing please?
drawing below of the character I'd like modelled.
My email is jimbottqs@hotmail.co.uk if anyone is interested in emailing me a quote (payment via paypal).
Note: I would like to get the left arm of the robot (right of drawing) in same condition as right arm, i.e. no damage) and I'll add the damaged effect in the linework when I'm drawing it up in pen and ink :)
Many thanks
