Subject: Getting Ready for V2.0 Have a Question

shannonsuzanne ( ) posted Fri, 23 June 2017 at 2:27 PM · edited Tue, 12 March 2024 at 11:32 PM

I was going through all my V4 characters figuring out which ones I would want to convert when I do get the TT2.0. I have a question to help me pick. If a character was "Poser" only, I assume because of the shader needed, does the program convert the skin well enough to use? For instance, a lot of Fabiana's characters are great, but I want to use them on G3. She never had any Studio support in her products. And obviously G3 is a lot different than V4. My question, if I use the V4 to G3 pack to do a conversion do you think the out put skin will work OK in Studio if I applied a 3Delight shader I have to it? Or would it just not work b/c there was no "Studio" materials to start with? Or does it even matter? I don't want to convert something only to have it not work because it was a Poser only shader. Thank you for clarification!

Hello shannonsuzanne,

TT2 will use as input Pz2 (poser format) or .duf (DAZ format). So, it will easily convert all the V4 content you want to Genesis3F. Poser and DAz are using very different Shaders. Poser firefly and 3Delight are quite similar. Iray is different and sometimes not using the same type of maps (height instead of bumps for example) All you need to be aware is that TT will only convert maps directly connected to the input channel. So, before converting, open the character and load the maps, relink maps directly to the main channel (diffuse, opacity, bump, specular,...) and resave your new shader. Convert with TT2 and if your taget application is DAZ, set it as duf output. When loading in DAZ with 3Delight, all your maps will be correctly affected. Usually, settings are also converted (bump values, etc..) so the result is quite ok for the start. All you need now is to tweak your 3Delight shader to make it match your needs (if you want to create SSS for example or add/remove bump effect, etc...)

I did a bunch of conversion based on StudioArtVartanian sets with Iray target. Very few tweaks to get a very nice result,

Hope it replies,

Best regards,
