RATS! The thread that dealt with Implicit Skinning is gone. Implicit Skinning. You know that very cool way to very nicely simulate bending of joints minimizing those nasty straw like elbows and knees.

Bunch of videos here

Anyhow....seems that Blender is getting funded to add this to the program. See here How very cool this would be if we could get this added to Poser... :)

Ha, I remember that video. When it came out I filed an enhancement report to Smith Micro...LOL.

Here's an older thread on the topic: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2867459#msg4066297

It's really pretty exciting stuff.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Glad to see this is coming to blender. I wonder though if one could get that technology in poser today for Roxy or Paul&Pauline, would users and content creators suddenly rush to embrace those figures just based on this tech??

Hmm. Funny. I searched for the term Implicit Skinning and nothing came up....

When will it be released?

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

You'd still have to buy Poser to get any of those figures. And Implicit skinning will do nothing for Poser or Daz figures unless Poser or Daz adds it.

And Daz will likely not add it to Genesis because I am certain it would Alter the projection mapping system of DAZ's autofit, and destroy compatibility with all existing clothing.

"Then this could be the chance for Poser to come back."

Not really Daz will not Destroy backward compatibility with existing content in one fell swoop with Implicit skinning.

Even if they did so their PA's would immediately Embrace to new implicit skinned figures and support them with new content and the Daz users will suck it up and buy it all over again just as they have done with genesis 2 and then genesis 3 content.

Now if Daz does not embrace implicit skinning and poser does??

Well implicit skinning only improves joint deformations it wont suddenly make Pauline more attractive to users or content producers who have to learn the new way to create conformers for these new implicit skinned figures for poser.

assuming SM actually provides some new figure that people will embrace.

Existing poser users will be expected to Discard 11 years of V4 content and whatever they may have bought for Dawn etc. and provide enough buyer support for the new implicit skinned content to make it a worthwhile investment for poser content devs.

..and likely $$pay$$ for the new version of poser that supports implicit skinning

remember Implicit skinning in Blender or even a new version of Daz studio will always be a Free upgrade.
