Doing my usual of looking out for stuff of interest for our Blender community when this came across my browser OD_CopyPasteExternal which I am sure will be of interest not only to our Blender community but to a majority of 3D modeler community as well. OD_CopyPasteExternal is an open source tool that will allow you to copy and paste geometry between 3D applications and not meaning import/export actually coping geometry your working on in one application and copying the mesh data right into another application visit https://www.blendernation.com/2017/05/06/od_copypasteexternal-copies-pastes-3d-data-apps/ currently the application not only supports Blender but also Lightwave 3Ds Max, Maya, Houdini, lightwave, Modo Sketchup and Rhino

Really great find, Lobo. I'm checking this out for sure.

EDIT: The 3dsmax version is WIP still, so there's a workaround to do it in there. This is really the top priority of what I would need it for, so I guess I'll be waiting for a while longer to get the easy copy and paste functions between 3dsmax and Blender. Still a really great idea and will save users a lot of time.

From what I read at the developers github website there are things they are still working the bugs out and they are looking for user feedback and others to contribute to the code. But the time saver this add on might bring because I agree there are somethings that easier preformed in one app to another and import/export is not the best at times when working between apps but the copy and paste concept could open to a whole new way of potential collaboration as well perhaps

This does look interesting. I'm excited and I don't even have most of that software. But I know it will benefit others and often times ideas like this get built upon to create even more cool tools.

I agree RedPhantom I excited since besides Blender as my main modeling tool I am also using Maya LT and being able to work with both side by side is something I can see that would have allot of potential

Gave this a quick whirl with my Maya 2017 student. Gave an "unsupported operand type" error on the export from Maya and failed. Will need to brush up on my Python scripting lol.

Ok the above was my Bad as the export script is fairly basic working mainly with polygons and vertices etc And the errors I got was when attempting to export fully rigged Models, which was a beyond the scope of the script. Teaches me for not reading all the info lol. The Blender export worked beautifully and imported into Maya with no probs (unrigged lol) except for models that I was working in with symmetry then only half the model was imported. Which can easily be mirrored in Maya. Havn't as yet worked on and tried importing back which could be interesting.
