Subject: BOING - wasn't thinking. reloading old pz3 files
Did you back up your old Geometries and Textures folders anywhere?
Do you still have any of the original downloaded files for the items used in the pz3 files?
In either case, if you stick those bits into a Runtime, Poser can use them.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
I have them someplace...not resident right now. Only problem, how do you know what figures/geometries were even used for a particular pz3 ?

i think i had that once upon a time... It hard having gone through several systems, and not all was I able to copy over each time. Still have the hard drives though.

The paid version? If you can give them details, they may let you get a new copy. Worth a try, at least. AFAIK, the free version doesn't have the ability to view PZ3s.

When you load the pz3 into Poser, it should throw an error when it fails to find a file, giving you a file browsing window to locate the file. The file name will be listed in that window. When I went through and loaded all my old P4 and P5 files into PPro12, to save them to the Scenes library, I let Poser tell me which files weren't in my Runtimes (as above), then used a search utility to scan my backup drives until I found a match. The process was slow and I didn't recover all the missing files, but I was eventually able to recover most of my old scenes.
But it helped that I had backed up my old Geometries and Textures folders, going back to P4 days. If I hadn't done that, I would have had to reload all those old downloads, which would have been... not so fun. P3DO would definitely have been a useful tool, if I had gone that route.

Over the years, I have been saving .pz3 files to DVD ... Going through old disks today ... Did not think about the fact you cannot open the pz3 without having the .obj and other files resident on your drive. Pretty much all the saved pz3 files are useless, unless someone has an idea.
