Subject: Rendering issues

I'm an aspiring rendering and lighting artist and I came across a situation I'm trying to figure out. My render seems to come out grainy, I tried hiking up up my unified sampling, filter is mitchell 2, for raytrace shadows my shadows is at 16, and my shadow rays for my directional light is at 16. Can anyone help me I'd be most appreciative. Side note I haven't textured anything other than the back wall.

It looks like there's not enough photons being emitted into the scene, or the photon radius isn't big enough.
