Strange. It installed fine and runs fine for me on Windows 10. You might try doing a clean install of Windows 10. While it's a pain in the butt because you need to reinstall all your software, it also fixes a lot of problems like conflicts left behind with certain files when only doing an update of the OS.

Well, thanks Johnny,it is hanging about 1hour and longer. And LaurieA,you said right, I'd better do clean install.

If you reserved your free update you should still be able to install it on that machine, if you can work out why it wasn't working.

I agree with RHaseltine here atpo. Because you were asked to secure your copy in the "Free" time period and attempts by you to install have been made you would have been issued a free copy of Windows 10.

  • When you go to update MS check to see if your computer is compatible and you will be told if it is not. My advice is to try the update in place so you are letting Windows do it and if you can just set it going and leave it alone for as long as possible. Let the system tell you it has failed and don't be guessing yourself. For a while there it was hanging for an eternity at about 27% on installs and then the remaining 73% was over in the blink of an eye. What you see on the screen messages I don't believe are all that accurate and IMO are just decoration.
