Different from other 3D tools, iClone is designed for instant visualization and digital storytelling. Its unique real-time animation engine gives you 10 x faster production speed by giving-what-you-see without having to wait. It's content-driven director layout is logically defined with Stage, Set, Actor, Animation, Media and Export tabs so that you may easily allocate resources during creation.

iClone is not only the ideal tool for studios, live TV productions, and pre-vizualizations but it also allows anyone to be their own director by animating without any hassles of creating content from scratch!

Renderosity users can now rejoice as the free iClone 6.5 update is finally here.

This includes VR360 Export, Alembic Export and MixMoves II.

This time, iClone 6 is more than an animation production tool, as we've incorporated leading technologies such as Nvidia's PhysX, SpeedTree and Allegorithmic's Substance to produce stunning visual quality, in addition to superb render quality with Indigo RT. Throw in tessellation capabilities and a brand spankin' new PhysX physics engine, and you've got yourself a sweet iClone stew brewing. On top of that, a flexible new UI design allows you more freedom in customizing your workflow, and improves usability so it's easier for you to access those innovative new one-piece G6 characters, apply Substance materials, and whip up a forest with SpeedTree!

It all takes time Realtimer but 6.5 certainly is a big leap forward. I still have several copies of 5.5 and I opened one the other day, that sure is an eye opener for how much progress has been made in such a short time :-) I finally finished those two music clips and will send you some links.

Looks overall good We have IClone 6 (Not installed yet until current film project is done)

But We will likely skip this update.

"Alembic cannot handle multiple material assignments"

This makes this "cross platform" format utterly useless to someone like me who sends multiple Iclone animated Daz figures to Maxon cinema4D for final rendering.

The DAZ studio .obj/aniMate2 MDD exporter is a far superior solution for us as it collects textures and creates a proper .mtl file. On the C4D side our riptide pro obj/mdd importer asks for the path/location of the actual image maps associated with the incoming .obj files and assigns them when imported.

Using Alembic &Manually assigning ,textures as shown in the demo, would be a major workflow step backwards for us.

still the new Mix moves options look great and its good to see Iclone getting regular updates though. 👏

This is only the first iteration for the iClone - Alembic export. Obviously there will be incremental improvements to the pipeline in the coming months.

Hi this is not a Reallusion shortcoming but a weakness of the Alembic format itself. Daz studio users who purchased the expensive Alembic exporter from Daz, report the same issue of massive textureless objects in their target application http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/35689/alembic-exporter-for-daz-studio-how-do-you-use-it-does-it-work-with-lightwave-etc/p3

C4D users over at the CGsociety.org web forums report the same. If indeed Reallusion can alter the ABC exporter to retain material assignments be sure to share with the rest of the CG world as they would love to know how you did it.
