Subject: Alembic Exporter for DAZ Studio - Was there an update?

Just curious does anybody know if there was an update for the Alembic Exporter?. It is listed for Daz 4.5+ but in 4.8 it gets a fail and implies it is now for 4.9 only.

The Daz-branded plug-ins get updated with each release of DS, so if you downloaded Alembic after the update to 4.9 that will be the version you have. If you need 4.8 you might try opening a support ticket.

Thanks RHaseltine it will only be temporary as I am stuck using Daz 4.8 until the FBX issue gets sorted. My 4.9 beta is still sitting here waiting to upgrade. The Alembic Exporter is not as important so I will just wait.

The beta (4.9.3.37) does have the FBX fix, if you mean the one relating to morph animation export - there should be a version of the Alembic Exporter for the beta.

Yes that is the fix I am waiting for. The Alembic Exporter for the beta is listed as inactive so might have been discontinued once the full version come out.

If you have the Alembic Installer in your order history then there should be a version in DIM for the beta (as part of the same product code as the non-beta).

I have the installer but the included beta version has been listed as inactive in the product library. It shows up and installs via the DIM. If the FBX fix for the facial morphs is in the beta update stage then I will just wait it out, my alembic exporter is miniscule in the scheme of things and I will be 4.9 public once released which will solve it anyway. I was curious because it is 4.5+ and didn't know whether I had a local issue getting in the way. It is great to see some progress there with FBX though and will certainly put a smile on a few faces, both the users and Genesis :-). Thanks for the info RH it is appreciated

The item in your Product Library is not related to the Alembic plug-in for the beta DS - it sounds like it was a (public?) beta version of the plug-in, which ceased to be available when the full version was released. The item in DIM is the same product, the purchased release plug-in, as the one for the non-beta DS - and installing for the beta will not affect the release build, nor vice-versa.

I downloaded the 4.9 Beta which was prior to the official release build and since I export a lot of content for animation I discovered real quick there was a issue with the FBX export taking the facial morphs with them and continued to use 4.8 and followed the progress for the fix. So my plugin for Alembic Exporter would have been a version for the 4.9+ and updates after the Official Public 4.9 and may have excluded the pre release beta version I was using. After you told me there was the FBX fix in this current update and pointed out the beta I figured the same thing yesterday, since the beta's doesn't overwrite your current public release version why not update the old 4.9 beta and went via the DIM. It worked a treat I have the latest 4.9 beta complete with the Alembic Exporter and the fix for the FBX facial Morphs fully functioning.

The AE is listed as 4.5+ installs etc but it will only work in 4.9+ public build onwards and you find this out with a warning message in the plugin pane of DS where it tells you the plugin is for a later version than the one you have installed.
