Hello grimologist,
I did test it with DAZ 4.9 with one of my texture set. Could you explain how you generate the CR2 file? It is working fine on my side. I did load my character in DAZ 4.9, then, File/Export/ destination folder (/Runtime/Library/Character/"your folder") and check CR2 in the bottom choice list. I did export. It took a while as it is writing everything.
Then I launch TT from Blacksmith 3D and did the process without error.
I re did the process directly with TT and it is working fine again.
Here is the result, i did not fixed the shader:
Just try with this process and let me know,
Best regards,
Hello grimologist and Roboman28,
Are you using TT standalone or in conjunction with Blacksmith 3 D? It may comes with an install problem and/or version....I'm using BS3D 6.1.2.0 and TT 1.1.2.0, DAZ 4.9. I had the same issue when i did an initial Beta test for this package. I did an uninstall and redo a clean install and it fixed the problem. Maybe it's the same on your system. I'm not able to reproduce the CR2 issue. If install can't solves the problem, then I will let Blacksmith 3D answer directly. Best regards,
I am using TT 1.1.2.0. I looked to see that it is still the latest. Also it does not install/affect Windows registry. Its just a zip file with an executable so I would just be copying across the very same files. I got G2male to G3male to work. Its very sensitive to relative addressing of the runtime. The later generations don't use runtimes or cr2 at all. So you just have to relate to the nearest my library/runtime file even though most of the character texture files are not there. The unsupported SOURCE file problem with G2 female is I would guess a problem caused by texture transformer not knowing where the G2 female OBJ file is.
Hello Roboman28 ,
I agree for the install, but sometimes, there are gremlins :-).
I did a test with the folder containing the CR2 at the root of the runtime (as you mentionned : /Runtime/my folder) and it also works on my side. Not sure that the issue is related to the original obj file as obj definition is only writen in the original .duf file for the new genesis generation.
One important point you mentioned and i did experienced many times is to try to save all the files in the same Runtime. TT is very sensitive when you use multiple runtime.
Glad you finally succeeded.
Maybe Blacksmith 3D will give a better explanation of this issue.
Best regards
I thought perhaps that having my exported geometry files and my texture files in different runtimes could be the issue, so I tried exporting the CR2 files to a new runtime by using the "gather files" option during the export. Still getting the error when all the needed files are in the same runtime structure.
I too am using the standalone Texture Transformer. I also tried the one from the free trial Blacksmith 3D package just for giggles. Same error with both. I thought about purchasing the full B3D package to see if I could perhaps create a more viable CR2 using the export function therein, but... it's a rather expensive gamble for me. Totally stumped at this point.
Thanks for the replies, by the way!
I tried the method you outlined first as it seemed most logical. And quite a few variations thereafter to no avail. It would seem to me that checking the collect files option in the CR2 export would eliminate any issues with TextureTransformer not knowing where the geometry files are located as mentioned by Roboman28, since that writes all the files needed by the CR2 to one place. I even had it create a totally new Runtime folder on my desktop with all the needed files and got the same results. Puzzling.
Could it have anything to do with the fact I'm running Windows 10 perhaps?
I'm running Windows 10 but I don't think that is an issue because I can get G2 male to G3 male to work but not G2 female to G3 female. On G2 male to G3 male of the 30 exported files it worked OK on 13 of them. The other 17 had the not supported source file issue. Presumably because there was something about the texture formats. So then I thought even though G2 female base did not work maybe it was a texture issue. However on G2 female I had no successes out of 6 exports so its probably is a setup issue not just particular textures. So still hoping for some further advice next week.
Hello all,
I'm also running W10, so it does not seem related to this point.
Here is a screenshot of the export option i did use this morning for my tests. It's the default export options of DAZ.
As you can see, I'm exporting to a linked Poser Runtime.
Will send a mail to the support to see if it can be fixed.
Best regards
Hello all,
It appears that some of the Daz Studio Gen 2 female version have an OBJ file named "Genesis2Female_996bfa90_1261_2177_6b9f_0502450565ed" yet some of the older DS and Poser versions of Gen 2 Female have an OBJ file named "Genesis2Female_20d12c21_8649_1b0b_c3f4_e2fdf8b66ec7". Our Texture Transformer currently only looks for the latter. Saving your Gen2 female cr2 from DS into your Poser folder where the Gen2 female OBJ named "Genesis2Female_20d12c21_8649_1b0b_c3f4_e2fdf8b66ec7" resides SHOULD fix the issue for now. It's just that each users Poser folder path could be different than the one fly028 noted above. I didn't catch this in testing because I was exporting all my cr2s created in Daz Studio to my Poser folder where the Poser gen2 female OBJ resides. My apologies!
The SourceOBJ file that Texture Transformer can also be changed in the settings.ini file found in the TextureTransformerDataG2F_ToG3F folder (if ini file is opened in a text editor like notepad). BUT, that means that gen2 female cr2 saved in Poser will not work. And, messing around with info inside of .ini files is usually not recommended unless you're very comfortable doing so.
So, we are currently working on an update for Texture Transformer and Blacksmith3D that will take both source files into account (which is the same issue with Dawn and Dusk cr2s saved in DS). I haven't confirmed it yet, but this same issue likely the Gen2 male.
Anyway, we hope to have an update out soon that will correct this issue.
@grimologist, if you have Poser with DSON, please try loading your Gen2 female in Poser, apply the texture you want to convert and save the cr2 in Poser. Then, use that Poser saved cr2 as your Source for your Texture Transformer conversion.
Thanks for the reply, Blacksmith3D. I don't have Poser at all. But I did have a look in my runtimes where I tried exporting the geometries to. I tried 3 different runtime folders, 2 created expressly for testing. I found that I have three differently named G2F OBJ's and none were named "Genesis2Female_996bfa90_1261_2177_6b9f_0502450565ed" as you quoted above.
I will try updating my Genesis 2 Essentials package to the latest and see if it generates an OBJ of the correct name.
UPDATE: Okay, even after updating I get a different name which is: Genesis2Female_d3bf7399_263d_2bce_58a4_2e28eaac445b.obj I'm not able to fathom just how DS generates the names for these OBJ's.
Yay! I'm glad to hear you were comfortable enough to change the setting.ini file to be the one you needed. Our upcoming update will still look for one or two known obj files, but still let you proceed if the referenced obj is different than the ones expected. That means there may be times were textures may not transform properly, if the obj is not meant for the conversion setting that is being used, but it will be better about handling all the obj names that DS generates. Seems silly that DS generates multiple Gen2Female OBJ files, but I'm guessing there is a reason for it.
NEW INFO on saving Genesis 2 cr2 files for use with Texture Transformer
Please note that the CR2 files must be exported from DAZ Studio or Poser using the base resolution (no subdivisions) AND must use the default UVs created in Daz Studio. The UVs have to be the original DS set and the polygon count has to be the original as well. If the character has a different UV set, then that will generate an obj with a different OBJ file name, in which case Texture Transformer may not recognize the source file or be able to make a proper texture transformation.
Even with the latest information having no success. Have 4 x differently named OBJ. Put all 4 in the ini file, even tried putting a file path in there too but didn't help. Put objs in different positions relative to cr2 although my directory position worked OK on previous texture transformer add ins. Looks like I'll need to wait for the update as self help options exhausted.

CLARIFICATION WANTED
I also set the Render SubD Level (minimum) to zero which you did not mention. In the export cr2 I have Poser Version 9, Figure Type = Base Figure and have tried both to collect files In Base Path Runtime and also left collect files blank. I would assume that within the cr2 file it tells you where the obj file is. Looking at the cr2 in a file editor that is indeed the case. figureResFile ":Runtime:Geometries:DAZ 3D:Genesis 2:Female:Genesis2Female_708c4463_2f44_818d_919c_211dd74d3336.obj" actor BODY:1 The settings.ini file refers to the same obj. Is there any other way I can help the obj get recognised say by putting it in the settings.ini directory. How does texture transformer know where the directory is for the obj is? The settings.ini tells you the file name but not runtime location. I have store the cr2 in an arbitrary directory /Runtime/AJR/Input-cr2/G2-female/G2f-base2.cr2 within the same runtime as the obj. Does the cr2 have to be located in a more specific directory? In the past using texture transformer worked ok with the above set up. Well run out of ideas to try now.

There really needs to be an update allowing us to work straight from within DS too, using native files. I think of G2 to G3 conversions in particular.
Just want to make sure you know that the native .duf files for Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 figures can be imported into Blacksmith3D.
hello, I ask for help in executing the TT2 program. My OS is on the C drive and it is Windows 10 64 bit. The TT2 program was well used on an independent D drive The program does not run after changing parts of the PC and reinstalling OS a few days ago. If I run the program, there is no response. There is no error message or warning sign. But it runs on other PC. I've never authenticated a product on another PC. I ask for your help. Thanks

Hello. I'm having troubles processing textures from G2F to G3F with the new Female addon bundle. I've placed the downloaded folders into the TextureTransformerData subfolder but yet get the error I attached in a screenshot which reads "This character is not currently supported as a SOURCE file."
The CR2 for G2F I created was exported from Daz Studio 4.9. Any suggestions to troubleshoot this issue would be welcomed, and thank you in advance!
