Not exactly a bug, but i clearly saw Alyson and Pauline installing, saw their names come up in the file spam, and i can't find them anywhere lol. Where are those figures? This is Pro 11

SuSoleil ( ) posted Sat, 21 November 2015 at 12:27 PM

(1) The search function is horrible. And I do mean horrible, as in it barely works. I have a couple of small runtimes, nothing like the large ones I've seen other people complaining about, and still the search function can barely find anything. It takes forever to list the older items that I installed under Poser 9. And It certainly can't find anything I've newly installed. Which brings me to the second problem.

(2) The installer. I'm beginning to wonder if it's installing anything. I've installed the same zip files repeatedly. Finally, I finally some elements of the package ... all in the oddest places ... places that the program itself cannot seem to find.

What gives?

Boni ( ) posted Sat, 21 November 2015 at 3:54 PM

Hmmm. In People, Alyson should be the top of the list while Pauline is under Kate 2.

  1. I have noticed that when using the graph palette and you "control right or left click" to make adjustments to an animation that the scroll does not work all the time.
  2. Also I have trouble sometimes with the library not showing thumbnails on first opening.
  3. The DSON support for G2 characters is unpredictable for opening existing saved characters in the library.(This may be a DAZ support problem) Cheers

I used a text editor to change all the "forcelimits 1" to "forcelimits 0" inside a figure .cr2 that I imported from Daz Studio and I can confirm that it doesnt work correctly in Poser 11 pro, especially the controls that involve moving more than one body part at the same time like the "Neck-Head Bend" control, Poser Pro 2014 ignores the limits with force set to 0 but Poser 11 keeps obeying the upper and lower limit and the "Force limits" checkbox in the dial settings is greyed out.

ManOfSteel ( ) posted Mon, 23 November 2015 at 2:07 PM
  1. I have the same problem with the library not showing thumbnails intermittently. The vertical bar that you can slide to the left to reveal the thumbnails gets pushed all the way to the right sometimes, hiding the thumbnails. Sometimes it's when the program is launched and sometimes it's when the library is revealed again.

  2. Some clothed figures that were created in Poser Pro 2014 load with clothing items that don't show in Poser 11 Pro. I have one character whose tennis shoes don't show in preview or when rendered. The properties tab shows it as visible and the textures show up on the material room as 100% visible but you can't see the shoes. Another figure is wearing an army commando type vest with buckles and canteens and pockets, etc. Everything shows except the straps of the vest.

  3. Where are the file counts for the folders? Was that feature removed? I really found it handy.

Connatic ( ) posted Mon, 23 November 2015 at 6:12 PM

The Library malfunctioned after a while. None of the sub-folders would open. The materials display (in Mat room) became all stretched and distorted, totally illegible. I shall set this unusable version aside and go back to PP2014 until SR1 is released. It's sad because it seemed to work fine for a couple of hours.

Someone has posted a temporary workaround for crashing renders - see the "Official Poser Forums" over at RuntimeDNA. I expect Smith Micro and perhaps nVidia (in my case) will sort something out; many crash reports being sent back to home base.

Newly created Thumbnails in the library are very blurry, fuzzy, and hard to see. I used to create higher size and rendered thumbnails and get nice looking thumbnails to replace the poser created ones and they would show up in the preview window larger and better looking. Poser 11 does not change the size and the thumbnails look like crap.

You can change the thumbnail sizes by clicking on the options ( ... ) at the bottom of the library. Then adjusting the sliders on the Tree/List/Details tabs.

gtrdon ( ) posted Fri, 27 November 2015 at 4:17 PM

Thanks I discovered this after I posted. The self created ones show up okay with the thumbnail size (they are higher rez). But if you leave the image size control in max the ones created and saved in poser look like crap. So you have to keep manually changing the image size when you browsing your folder. In Poser 2014 the images automactically changed according to the size of the image and the max picture size was much larger. I am starting to find all kinds issues with the library which I have to close then reopen Poser to clear & refresh. I will be posting them as I continue.

Have you considered that maybe 'reality' is Insane!

I second what SuSoleil said about the search function, currently it just does not function properly. I have found quite a few items in my library that the search function cannot find even when they are side by side. What I really miss though, is the "locate" function in the PP2014 search results.

bopperthijs ( ) posted Tue, 01 December 2015 at 5:11 AM · edited Tue, 01 December 2015 at 5:13 AM

There is something wrong with HDR-files when you close and reopen Poserpro11. Yesterday I made a render with great results. Today I opened the file again and the results were horrible. Reloading the HDR-file in the environment dome fixed the problem.

When you are in superfly mode, preview is white, which is known, but when I have a cloth with a firefly shader, it doesn't somehow aligh with the figure and the figure pokes through the cloth (a dress in this case).

And I'm getting completely nuts about the library, I have to rekick over and over again.

When I click on a material to assign to a model I get this message: "Exception in Reality::DataModel::updateMaterial(Tongue,Pauline) => 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'ReScene_hasObject' " - even though I have not tried to install Reality in Pro11 so don't know why it is calling it up.

playerdark ( ) posted Fri, 04 December 2015 at 1:10 AM

I have Poser Pro Gamedev and I can truly and honestly say it is the biggest pile of sh!t I have ever seen. It crashes more than a drunken driver on PCP. I have one setup here with one character and a few cloths on it, some polygons removed and now I'm trying to combine it to one figure and that damn thing crashes every time. I spend 500$ on it specifically for the game dev features and now it is unusable. The unseen polygon removal function is a joke, it barely recognizes any, you have to do that work manually anyway and when you run it automatically it crashes half of the time. The only thing that works is the polygon reducer, but when you have a piece of clothing with useless clusters of polygons, say buttons, you can't tell it to treat them moreaggressively. Instead it spreads the reduction over the whole mesh and booom, you get a unusable piece of cloth with some nice buttons.

Seriously, if I had any hope of success, I would sue them to give me my money back, but I know it's useless.

You wonder why there is no time limited tryout for Poser? Well there you have it. Anybody who could tryout this piece of BS would never buy it.

I'm not even mad because of the money alone, but because I build my whole artpipeline on their promise and now I'm stuck with a piece of bugware that doesn't do what it promised.

Peter Pauze ( ) posted Fri, 11 December 2015 at 10:27 AM

Two relatively small problems with Poser Pro 11 that I have encountered:

  1. In the Library, in the Tree tab, the slider to adjust the size of thumbnails works, but Poser doesn't "remember" the setting from session to session, so I have to reset thumbnail sizes for every folder every time. Mildly annoying.

  2. There used to be a helpful little "loading" indicator when you were loading a pose or a figure or whatever...it seems to be gone. I found it useful and miss it.

I am sorry I upgraded to Poser Pro 11 so soon. I can't tell you what problems I might have because I can't get the Library to load more than one or two items before it shows no content. I think I have discovered that if I load one or two content items and save the file, usually I can reopen it and add one or two more items. Not very helpful. Between Windows 10 problems (finally solved) and Poser problems, my image making has been seriously curtailed.

It is really sad to have to say that Poser 10/Pro 2014's library/search is superior to this one.

I have an issue with external Runtimes, the library folders are not in alphabetical order, they appear to be in the order in which the folder was created, I contacted SM and they said hopefully it will be in the next update. I hope so because it has extended the workflow having to look at every folder to find what I need.

IsaoShi ( ) posted Thu, 14 January 2016 at 1:45 PM · edited Thu, 14 January 2016 at 1:53 PM

This is probably a design consideration rather than a bug, but it sure bugs me. :)

Cancelling a SuperFly Progressive Refinement render part way through a sample gives a final render with some completed buckets from the previous sample and some from the interrupted sample. This can give very obvious bucket boundary artifacts (especially in PNGs, not quite so obvious in JPGs), and the whole render is useless. The final render image really ought not to be updated with the partially-complete sample.

It's possible to avoid this by keeping an eye on the bucket count and cancelling the render at the exact point at which it starts a new sample - preferably just before rather than just after, since the new sample buckets will be dead centre of the render. The scene can be framed such that any incomplete buckets at the outside can be cropped.

This is on Pro 11, Mac OS X version.

SupportRequest: I cannot complete a Superfly Render

I am running Windows 7 64bit, nVidia 980ti 4790K with the latest drivers.

I get about 3/4 through a superfly render then I get a "Video driver has stopped" error message. Then when I close the Poser11 window, I get an OpenGL error message. (This may be because the video driver has reset)

I have set the tdrDelay variable to 60 in the registry and added a tdrLevel of 3 to the same registry area.

I have tried earlier video drivers, swapped my RAM and rolled back to a GTX780ti. All with the same error.

It happens when the render gets to a complex area and it takes several seconds for the current bucket to appear. Straight after it appears, the driver crashes.

Solution to the Superfly problem above,

Add a DWORD variable named "TdrLevel" to the registry with a value of 0. This turns off TDR.(TimeOut Detection and Recovery)

I have a new problem that popped up after I installed the latest P11 update - I keep getting error messages after I start Poser 11 that say that "such and such" a file does not exist - referring to a previously installed item in an external runtime (on an external hard drive).

Something different (different item I mean) each time I boot P11 up in the error message. I can't keep track of them all or follow up to see why it is not seeing the files.

I run poser on a mid-2010 iMac. Never had this problem with P11 before...

Reference post @4249123 above - of course, this only happens when Branched Path Tracing and Progressive Refinement are used together.

The manual tells us to switch Branched Path Tracing off when using Progressive Refinement, so I guess this can't really be called a bug. For some tasks I'll continue to use both together, but I think this issue can be ignored.

I really hating PP11, the library is one huge problem. First it took me 2 days of searching the forums to get the thing working, otherwise it just kept eternally loading. After I got that working, found the search function was really bad. (Did anyone at SM QA this thing?) Among the MANY problems, while its nice the search engine wants to complete the name your typing. It becomes a problem if its a odd name, then half the time it keeps trying to change the search name to something else. Another problem, I can type only half of the upper-case symbols. Case in point, tried to type S&W for search. Except, the & symbol won't type, again, testing the upper-case symbols, found half won't type.

The search also brings EVERYTHING up, in PP14, I would type EL CID, the one file with that name would come up in the search. In PP11, EVERYTHING that has a EL anywhere in its name came up...Got around that by just searching for CID. However, this alone shows that PP11 search is a step backwards from PP14.

I also enjoyed in PP14, the ability to open the folder I was searching for in the search box. In PP11, it shows a broken folder icon, and I have to use locate to open the folder in the category window. And there is just opens the category it's in, I have to search the category to find the file that I searched for in the first place. Another step backwards from PP14, which allowed the searched for file to be opened in the search window. Allowing me to use the folder there, while at times, switching back and forth between that window and the category window,

There's more, but overall, the library is a step backwards from PP14. As for the rest of it, Superfly is a POS, like many others that have complained in these forums. It renders a black screen, sometimes with a white square somewhere in the render. But, switch over to Firefly, same work, same spot, and it renders.

As with the new male figure that was not included in this package because it was not ready. I feel, that this entire program was rushed and put out before it was not ready. One my computer, I have, Poser 8, PP10, 12 and 14...I purchased PP11 rather than test is. After this experience I'll get the test version from now on. Very disappointed in PP11, and seeing DAZ pulling further ahead in this market.

P11 is not backward compatible.. P10 crashes every time I attempt to open a PZ3 saved in P11. Smith-Micro really fricked up my Poser installations. Luckily I have P10 on one computer and P11 on another. P10 was on my two computers, but the one with P11, messed up P10. Running P10 on the same one as P11 causes it to open without the Content Library. I get a blank white box and It says I need Adobe Flash... I've reinstalled Flash, without success. Reinstalled P10 without success. I've never had a Poser crash in 15 years.. I started with version 4, going through 5, 6, 7, 9 & 10... Never a crash. Now with P11, it is totally hosed. I'm not tech minded, at least not anymore. .. just an artist. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
