Hello e3rl3e
From what I can dig up seeems dual core support came into play with Blender 2.5 since before that 2.49b support single core processors I could be mistaken but that is what I was able to fine.
Hope this helps

This was posted by founder of blender on Jan 29 2013 but can't for the life of me find out when it went into effect.
All I could determine was that 2.49b supported single core processors and 2.5 supported dual core. it was released back in 2011 this history page might offer you more information https://www.blender.org/foundation/history/

Could anyone please tell me at what version of blender the minimum requirements went from single core processors to dual core?
