Hi folks This in not a question really but more of a discussion topic. Im just curious as to why radiosity hasen't been incorporated into Maya. One would think that such a professional program should have that option. I don't know much about it myself but a friend who has Max has some really wonderful renderings done with radiosity - the light model is beautiful and almost touches reality in contradiction to most other CGI images that is usually pretty easy to recognice regards Kristian

in maya you can fake radiosity....dont ask my how to! most of the maya artists i know do use renderman for their renderings. most of he programs are good at what they predend to be...maya's an awfull modelin program (some are sayin lightwave or xsi are better....i just dont know i only know maya) and TOP-animation program! its animation tools are superlative its render is poor....sure! but its not designed to do highend renders every program has got its weak points....none is designed to do every thing better than any other.

well...the reason why Maya doesn't have/support radiosity is because you can fake it at half the speed it will take to render if you were to use a radiosity renderer....Maya is node base ( course you know that )....so with you right connections you can do wonders....did you know that all the lightin in Monsters Inc is faked!!...yep...no radiosity there....sure they use Renderman, but Pixar just have some really good lightin artists....Maya is a highend program therefore the professionals are not willing to wait forever for their work to render...instead they fake it and no one's the wiser.....if you take a look at this image I did some time back....( use the link provided ) you'll see that it is very possible to fake lightin in Maya....granted that this image sucks!!..lol....but it gives you a good idea of what kind of results you can get if given the time to get them..... peaCe....

How dare you speak to my sensei in that way!!  prepare yourself!
