Hi everyone! So, I can't install the Ades Hair in DAZ3D. I have attempted merging the "data" and "runtime" folders, nothing happens, and I have tried unzipping the folder directly into DAZ's directory (or something like that, as specified in the ReadMe doc) but it's not showing up in DAZ. I also tried pasting it inside the "My DAZ Connect Library" as well as the "My Library" folders (in separate and different occasions though) and still nothing. So I've deleted everything to leave things intact and clean again.

Here is a screenshot, of the DAZ3D Main folder and what's in it, and the Zip file of the product I'm trying to install. What should I do and how?

Hello,

Is this the same for mac? Pasted those three folders into /User/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library. I've then opened up DAZ Studio... and now what do you do?

This is a base level question. I'm a day one user and have unfortunately been unable to find a friendly getting started guide posted on this site. Community guidelines requires a 30 day membership to use chat function.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. :-)

I'm not sure about Mac but if it is the same as under Win you should find the items under DAZ Studio Formats - My Library - People - Genesis xxx if it is something for Genesis.

What if the zip file only contains Runtime?

  hborre    ( ) ( posted at 3:08PM Wed, 13 September 2017  · @4314065

The runtime folder is an inherent catch all for Poser related content which was established at a time when DAZ created installers for both Poser and DAZStudio. If your content zip file contains only the runtime folder, you need to navigate to the Poser runtime in DS Content Library. Going through the folder hierarchy, you should be able to find your installed content. My recommendation is to analyze the zip file first to obtain the name of your target folder in the Library. Otherwise, you will become frustrated searching the Library for appropriate folder.

How do I instal my renderosity content the best way to Daz 4.9?

  RHaseltine    ( ) ( posted at 4:19PM Wed, 13 September 2017  · @4314071

DS 4.9 hasn't changed anything as far as installing zipped content is concerned.

  HydrogenApple98    ( ) ( posted at 4:42PM Wed, 13 September 2017  · @4314074

So how do I install it? Sorry I'm new at this

  RHaseltine    ( ) ( posted at 4:55PM Wed, 13 September 2017  · @4314075

The Runtime from the zip is merged with the Runtime in the My Daz 3D Library folder, then you find the content in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats>My Daz 3D Library>library type>folder - you would need to check the readme to see which library and folders.

Thank you for your help!

So using this thread I successfully (seemingly) got some old V3/V4 data installed to my DAZ4.9 Library.

However, while I can see the selections to double click for changing things (eye color in this case, and with a V3 figure loaded and active) I don't actually get a change in eye color. it's almost like it's not quite sure exactly where to find the texture map for them.

Any ideas on how to fix that?

John

Any errors? Exactly where in DS (pane and path) are you double-clicking? Are these .mc6 files in the materials library?

I purchased a few characters and installed them in the folders indicated in the "readme" file. When I open Daz I can not only see the characters name's and each segments (full, head, body, etc) but I actually see a thumbnail for each of them. The thumbnail is a actually picture of the item but every time I click it to load it fails. What do I do?!? Thanks.

  tparo    ( ) ( posted at 3:15AM Fri, 21 June 2019  · @4353842

Do you have the correct figure loaded and selected, characters are sometimes just shaping and material presets, there's isn't always a load all preset.

Those sound like the (hidden) folders with the various injection files for Victoria 4 or other ExP-based figures - if so, and they show in DS, then the content is not installed correctly. Exactly what have you installed, and where? Are you using the default directory settings or have you customised them, and if so to what?

It's for gen 8 female which I have tried loading on it's own as well as loading on tons gen 8 body. I'm really new to all of this and a complete idiot so I hope that answers your question?

After I purchased them I downloaded them... they were zip files so I unzipped and it had a "readme" the reader said to add the files to daz 3d library (I'm not at home so I dont recall the exact location but I placed them there. It hasn't ever asked me to "install" them and does not come up as install iems in the loader/installer. But when Inooen daz it shows the icons which I thought meant I placed them correctly as I followed the read me directions AND I can see the thumbnails in daz...

I thought downloading a bunch of free stuff and a few purchased items would allow me to play around and emulate and try to deconstruct/reconstruct would help me get an idea of what the heck I was doing.

What are some good resources to learn asses from elbows in Daz so I dont have to bother people like you guys who are nice enough to respond?

I really do appreciate you guys taking the time to respond.

Is it normal not to have hair for purchased items? I finally got my renderosity items to load and none of them have hair and the same goes for my Daz downloads. I obviously checked with the models as well as with hair assets and they aren't there

  Torquinox    ( ) ( posted at 12:39AM Thu, 27 June 2019  · @4354944

Yes, There are some bundles that include hair, but hair is usually a separate item. Daz starter content does include some hair items. You will have to look for it in your Content Library.

Thank you. Kind of a bummer to pay $35 for models shown with hair and to get baldies but I guess it is what is is. Thanks again.

👍 On the bright side, you can find hair items from mild to wild, and often at a good discount. I like a lot of DigiPixel's hair items. They're definitely wild! The best part is, with a little manipulation, any hair will work with any figure. Hair works as a prop, not as clothing.

Thanks again. And thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out digipixel.

Excellent! A few more words of advice: Sales are your friend and 3D content is like crack candy. So many gorgeous items, so little time. You might want to start slow, make some renders, enjoy what you have, and build slowly. Otherwise, you'll have tons of content and you'll probably never use it all.

Sort of like buying a computer then finding that the monitor is "optional". Well, no, it's not optional, it's just not included ;)

Hi, I thought I'd add onto this topic rather than start a new one. Where is this My Library that everyone is referring to? I've been looking all morning, but all I can find is My Daz Connect Library, which doesn't work in the same way I don't think. Do I have to make it?

  RHaseltine    ( ) ( posted at 8:45AM Sun, 07 July 2019  · @4356299

In your Documents folder (wherever that is on your system) there will, by default, be a /Daz 3D/Studio/My Library which was the default content directory pre-Install manager, and remains the default for user-saved content (File>Save and all the File>Save As commands will open to a folder in that on first use).

  crowbar    ( ) ( posted at 4:46AM Wed, 10 July 2019  · @4356640

the one thing I change with Daz installs that try to default to a user/documents/my library location is because this will install on the C: drive and with an ssd this can be problematic so I always move everything over to a different disk
