Big news today! I know some people have been waiting for this. :)

Particles in Action

Yep.  I knew we were due for an update.  I still haven't used 501 or 601 much.  701 does nukes now at least.

Looks like 701 is here.

Downloading 701 as I type.

I am still drooling over the Feature Tour for now. :)

I am so broke that I do not think I will be able to find the $495 (£329) needed, but I love the new inclusions, they are even throwing in the NPR kit as a freebie for the first two weeks. Nice!!!!

Oh well back to my poverty driven world!

Or, if you already have the NPR kit, they are giving a $95 (or $99 - I can't recall) discount on the upgrade price.

Particles are nice, in theory, but not of much use for me personally. The increased functionality in high-poly scenes and quicker sculpting is good. I'll probably upgrade to stay on the bandwagon.

You don't have to upgrade just to keep eligibility for future upgrades, so far it's been the same price to upgrade from any version and I'm sure there'd be a "last chance" offer if they switched to requiring the current, or most recent two, versions for upgrade eligibility.

Yep, Luxology is a great company. I upgraded from 301 to 601 without penalty. Their mantra is to treat customers the way they would like to be treated. I wish all companies had such high standards. The merger made me a little nervous but I'm sure they would give notice if things changed. I have full confidence in them.

I waited until Brad sent my a $100 off on the 601 upgrade.  So I got it for $395 about 6 months ago.  I may do it again for 701.  But I barely use 601.  I'm not working right now.  So I am not doing much upgrades for anything.
