Subject: i need advice on poser library
I would like some advice on how I use the poser library
I keep all content (clothes, environments, etc.) for use with poser on an external HD to the PC to preserve them from crashes
the basic elements (v4, m4, morps, and little else) i do not have it in the folder poser, but organized in a folder
on hd partition
when I build a scene, I create a new temporary folder and put everything in there that I need, then load them one by one in the library poser.
when I finished the project, I destroy the temporary folder and the library poser back clean with only the basics.
After a few projects, say 5-10, I noticed that when I add something to the library, poser takes more time to load it, to get even a minute for a few kb
I've tried everything, including reinstall poser, but I noticed that the only thing that works is to reinstall windows.
it is as if poser maintained on memory all links to things deleted.
you have any suggestions ?

I use IDL, Gamma Correction and EZSkin for all final renders.
Use a external library, not the native poser one.
Personally I'm using Library XL, http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/xl---content-library-for-poser/88878
but others are very happy with Library Manager, www.runtimedna.com/ShaderWorks-Library-Manager-2.html
There are many others. The only thing that they cannot do is adding new runtimes, you still need to use the poser library for that or edit the libraryprefs.xml by hand, which I do.
Your whole workflow seems to consist of a lot of work. I don't see the point why you build a whole new library for each project. That takes way too much time and is not needed at all, imo. It may speed up things a little in the library, but sure not in the workflow. As for adding items to the library, I'm not sure what to do about it, perhaps it's the way poser was written, it gets slow with everything after yoiu do a lot of things in it. I haven't noticed my external library getting slow though.
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!
Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....
