Okay gang, this is one way to UVMap a head in Hexagon. I say "One Way" because there's no right or wrong way to do it, as long as you get the results you want.  This way just works well for me. It's an image based tutorial, so expect lots of pics.

I'm not good at modeling NON-organic objects though. I'm a character modeler so that's where my skills are.

That's it in a nutshell. Now you'd have to map the eyeballs and stuff but you can probably figure it out now that you've done this.

Glad I could help.  Here's what I did after the UVMap (always better to do the map first).

This is done with a level 3 subdivison. I can add more basic details or raise the subdivision for finer detail.
