Spheric vehicles, and especially ball-shaped tanks, have always attracted undeserved attention. A few dubious advantages, such as a small surface,
a spherical shape reflecting the projectiles, or the absence of a vulnerable tracks, seem to outweigh a number of obvious shortcomings.
These include poor handling, poor crew visibility, poorly placed weapons, a small extent of vehicle contact with the ground,
difficult-to-use interior space and many others. In the Soviet Union, between the two wars and during the Second World War, a number of utopian
projects of spherical tanks were created, none of which were implemented even to the stage of a prototype. One of them is the design of a spherical tank
- literally a sharotank invented by engineers Novikov and Smirnov from the autumn of 1941. But even this "supertank" remained only on paper. Until now.
