Preamble.
Birth of the Cobra: Having stopped the competition in 1960, at 37, due to health, the Texas driver Carroll Shelby wants to develop an American car capable of beating the Italian Ferrari GT category.
His search for a chassis brings him to AC, an English firm. In 1962 he presented the first AC Cobra, the 260. The Cobra shows very quickly its potential on the American circuits, especially against Chevrolet Corvette, much heavier. His success is immediate, the Cobra myth is born.
The years of production: 1962 Cobra 260, 1963 to 1965 Cobra 289, 1965 to 1967 Cobra 427, 1966 to 1969: thirty or so 289 Sports produced by AC (chassis and box of 427 with engine 289).
Today is the most replicated sports car, there are many replicas delivered as a kit.
