The Speakeasies were underground lounges and bars that sold liquor and beer in the 1920s after the 18th Amendment was passed that prohibited alcohol. A Speak Easy was usually a great place to hear the latest Jazz music, but one had to be careful not to rub a liquor smuggling gangster the wrong way.
