I think it is time to split the animation and the 3d still pictures into seperate categories. From the results those who don't do animation don't have much of a chance. I think there are some very good animations but there are also some very good stills that should have won also. Just my opinion but from the results of the contest it appears justified.

Congrats to the winners - each of you deserve the victory! So many great images and animations. On that topic though, I agree with beelzebulb that it might be more appropriate to seperate animations from stills. By the nature of the contest at least one animation was going to win something simply for being an animation (whether it was good or not) and likewise for the still 3D image (because of the honorable mention categories). But that's just my opinion. In the end it was a great contest and I look forward to the next one. Again, congratulations to the winners!! Fantastic work!

I did not enter this competition because of the small size of the images allowed, having to compete against animations made this size problem even more obvious. Congrats to the winners.

I think that the still image that came second was an excellent piece ( the one I voted for ) but it was up against slightly unfair competition. The categories should definitely be split next year.

Great submissions. Congratulations to all the winners. Very well deserved! :)

I agree, that the stills did not have a chance to win. 6 winners and only one still won anything.

I just want to say thanks to the Renderosity community for my third place finish! I am thrilled and encouraged by the support, particularly since there were so many amazing entries. This contest has generated a really cool collection of images - congrats to all and thanks again! Cheers.

I also totally agree. Maybe next time we should put the still 3D into the 2D categories... If you only wanted videos you should have said it so. Congrats to the winners though.

Awesome! Thanks for the votes - Christmas on Halloween! Congrads to the other winners too. Was a great theme this year with lots of potential ideas to play with. Got me out of a bit of a slump actually. Cheers.

I too agree that the 3d and animation categories should be seperated next year, but for me it is the other way around. The size restrictions on animations force the animator to reduce the image quality far greater than still image 3d work.making it tough to compete with some of the fantastic still works! Also, it looks to me like only two animations made to the winners circle, so I don't understand how animations have a "unfair" advantage in that regaurd.Animating and rendering animation on a home pc takes week and sometimes months to complete, so as far as this years competition goes, the first place winner was well deserved. If you think animations have the advantage on winning, give it a try, it's alot of fun

I demand a recount! -Kidding of course. lol! Congrats to all the winners. A lot of cool entries in all the categories. I love the challenge of keeping a story at or under 1000 words.

Yes, I agree with Beezlebub. Split Animations and Stills, by all means, into two separate categories. When I was going through the artwork it took me awhile to figure out they were lumped together and that didn't seem to make sense. Great work, all. And a fun premise!

There was so many entries it was difficult to make a choice. Congrats to the Winners.

Super work everyone!! Thanks to rendo for hosting this great annual contest and thanks for the votes I received . x

I'd also like to see next year a separate categories for 3D art and 3D animation instead of them being lumped together in one category. Every year that frustrates me. While it may be using the same tools, it's a different effect entirely and the things you judge by are different. It's impossible to fairly judge between them so please make separate categories! it would definitely help encourage more animation entries as well :) Lastly it was a great contest and I learned a lot-and enjoyed (mostly-haha-I'm a coward) scaring myself silly looking at all the entries. :)
