Getting Ready for Siggraph 2015
The 42nd annual Siggraph Computer Graphics conference gets underway today at the Los Angeles convention center. It will run for 5 days (Sunday through Thursday; August 9 - 13) with an almost bewildering assortment of events, panels, awards, screenings, tutorials, demonstrations, meetings and speechs; not to mention the massive trade-show which will take place from Tuesday through Thursday.
This year over 15,000 people will attend the conference. Students, professionals, beginners, journalists, manufacturers, inventors and developers from all over the world will gather to share their ideas and learn from others in addition to seeing and experiencing some of the most cutting edge computer graphics technology on the planet. I'll be attending Siggraph as a journalist reporting on new products, seeking out interesting experiences and catching up with the many friends I've made in the computer graphics field.
I'm also very excited by the fact that Renderosity will be running a booth this year at Siggraph (#1115). Since I work virtually from home, I haven't had a chance to meet my co-workers in person. This will be a great opportunity to hang out and get to know them. Renderosity is developing many new ideas for the future. The booth will allow us to share some of those ideas and get feedback on them. I can't think of a better place to do this than Siggraph which, after all, is all about people meeting people and sharing ideas.
In addition to writing about various updates to important computer graphics software, I'll be reporting daily on the meetings I'll be taking and on the events I'll be participating in. I'll try to get some video up for you as well. Stay tuned to the Renderosity Facebook page, Twitter account and Industry News section of Renderosity.com for updates. I can't wait to get started.
