Description

In the early evening, I stood nervously and excited in the corner of the empty, half darkened gallery and looked at my work hanging on the walls. I looked at my portrait on the far wall staring back at me, was I really ready for this? This really was a great setting for a gallery. Moonlight shone through the large windows. The warehouse had once stored paper so it was a fitting venue. I could hear people in the next room chatting and waiting to come in. I could imagine them drinking their wine and eating their little nibbles of food. I hoped they liked it. Well, no point waiting any longer. I turned up the main lights, took a deep breath, put on a fake smile, turned and opened the door, ready to welcome the first visitors. This is probably going to be my entry for the October Bryce challenge. I chose Architecture and paintings. This is purely Bryce, with no postwork at all. The pictures are previous Bryce works I

I also made a smaller gallery - well done ;) You mean the gallery in the old factory building, I do not remember name, but had been there and also gave a little donation ;) in 2002. http://internet-news.gmxhome.de/london for some of my impressions of this city with its wonderful opened atmosphere between people, maybe the gallery is also there.

The perception of eye contact between your picture at the end of the hall and the viewer really makes it happen. We're then left to contemplate the space as opposed to the art, which is oddly eerie - emphasizing art without appreciation - begs a tree falling in the woods type of question...
