Brigit let herself go. Apparently the whole crew had been trained in piloting the airship, quite simple really, and Ian and Thomas were happy sitting in the bow content with the peace and quiet. Aelfwynn kept to herself topside and the other five enjoyed a couple bottles of Levi's stash. It was enough for even the elves to feel the euphoria for a while. As day turned to dusk the five separated. Fir helped Eve to her quarters where she was put to bed. Malgwnn also made his way to the captain's quarters and promptly fell asleep. Levi stayed where she was and sat facing outward to meditate. And Brigit decided to retire to her own quarters to meditate and let the effects of the booze wear off. A few hours passed before Brigit came out of her reverie and now she was rather hungry. The lower portion of the ship was divided in to two levels, the bottom most being cargo, supplies and the furnace and machinery for the prop. The head was on this level too, it made it easier to dispose of the waste via 'direct drop'. Good luck to anyone on the ground when the ship passed overhead. The upper level consisted of a passage with quarters to either side. Her's and the Captain's were the largest rooms, but most had ample room and two were empty, four actually, because Thomas and Ian always stayed in close proximity to one another due to their roles as the Spell and Shield. And Fir often spent time in Eve's quarters. An odd couple if there ever was one. One set of stairs led below and another at the opposite end of the passage led to the glass enclosed top deck. The top deck is where they ate and where the semblance of a galley was. Most of the foodstuffs were cheeses, breads and dried meats. There was also a week's supply of fruit and vegetables too. All this was kept in special upright cabinet crates that could fit into secure holders on the deck. They had wheels and could easily be removed and swapped out for full crates when necessary. Thanks for stopping by for a look and read. I have a few stacked up and I promise some action soon. Above chapter continued below.

Brigit came up to the main deck and found Levi and Malgwnn rooting around in the food crates. "Join us Miss Brigit!" Malgwnn expressed jubilantly. "Don't mind if I do." "Here." Levi said and placed a quarter loaf of brown bread, a nice slab of orange cheese and a pear and apple on the one and only central table in the glass enclosed deck. "Moutinelle cheese!" Brigit exclaimed. "And ginger spiced bread with an alusian apple and a golden pear. It's been years since I've seen any of these and you have not forgotten." Brigit smiled at Levi. "How could I forget. That's all you ever ate when I first met you." Levi replied also smiling. Now Malgwynn smiled. "Awww shore and begora. It's good tah see yah ladies smilin' twon another for once. Seems our wee taking off fest lightened the mood around here.” "How about Aelfwynn?" Asked Brigit. "She's doon below and Fir's topside now." Said Malgwynn. "And Eve?" Brigit's one eyebrow went up. "She's still out. My guess is it might be morning till we see her." Said Levi with a smirk. “You know humans and my whiskey.” Evening led to night and the two men being relieved by Brigit and Levi and getting the sleep that humans needed. Malgwynn tended to his machines and took a nap and traded off with Fir topside. Fir took food and retired back with Eve for the rest of the night. Levi and Brigit did not talk much about personal issues, but Levi gave Brigit the necessary instructions on piloting the ship. She showed her the navigation compass and explained the basics and principals of guiding the ship. Here Brigit learned a few more things about the ship. The ship generally cruised at the same altitude all the time, a little less than a third of a league in altitude. The prop moved them forward regardless of the wind direction and the wings were used to make adjustments in altitude up to a half a league or more. Angling the wings and adding more power to the prop allowed the ship to climb. Releasing steam out of the exhausts added an extra boost. The gnomes originally wanted as much of a closed system as possible for the drive, to conserve water, but this modified version aided them well. When Brigit was comfortable at the wheel, Levi took Fir's spot on the top of the balloon and left Brigit alone until dawn. When Starnos began to rise, Aelfwynn had come up and replaced Levi up top, so Levi came down to check on Brigit. They were well into Mandor now, the land of humans, and would probably pass the fortress city at the pass of the Kraggenspur Mountains. Once past the city they would be on high alert for wyverns. But for now it was a beautiful, yet cloudy morning. The mountain peaks still kept some of their snow, with the highest peaks being snow capped all year. Vast wilderness forest stretched out below them from the mountains to as far as the eye could see, and elves could see very far. "All is well it seems." Said Levi. "It would seem." Replied Brigit. "You ready for some conversation?" Levi looked away and back, then leaned against the railing with little heed of the great height they were at. "Sure. Now's probably best.”

I love the intimate details as you take the time to thoroughly describe all the changing of the guards. Few would bother to give such a full account but it breathes life into the story. The effects of the spirits are well told and give some insight into the strengths of the characters. I like how the Eve and Fir relationship is being slyly told.
