Description

This hospitable shop owner invited me for tea. I really never cared for the stuff, not even Ice Tea. But, when in China... do as the Romans do. No, thats not quite right is it? Anyway, in order to get into the shop and take pictures, I felt it was necessary to be certain not to upset my host, so I took him up on his offer and requested the green tea by pointing at an object that was green in color so he would know. Later I learned that here in Southern China, particularly the Cantonese, they prefer green tea. It wasn't half bad either considering I do not like the stuff. You can see from the image, tea service (as the English might call it) in China is actually quite small. Do you know how little girls will play house on a small table with tiny little cups pretending to serve coffee or tea to her stuffed animals? Well that is the actual size of real tea service. do you see those little bowls? These are actual cups. There are no handles. The cup with a handle on it is not an Asian invention. Like the Koreans, until recently the Chinese drank from bowls. The standard rice bowl is one cup. So when the Europeans would require China (as in the real thing Bone China) the makers would put a handle on a one cup bowl. Anyway, here is the tea service and of course, they want me to sit in the big chair. Yeah, that tree stump behind the table shaped like a hand to hold your glutes! When it comes to furniture, the Chinese often have quite a sense of humor making modern art like a padded chair that resembles a human hand .... I hope you all enjoy this image as much as I did taking it and doing the post work. Stay tuned for more good stuff. I thank you all for your kind comments, and especially the critiques. Without the negative I am not in balance. All things must be in harmoney, I need negative reenforcement as well as positive. Otherwise, I shall never grow.
