To all of my mother's Renderosity friends:
It saddens me to no end to tell you that my mother, Mina, passed on May 31st, from endometrial cancer. She is survived by my father, Roger, and myself. I apologize for not letting you all know sooner, but her passing has left me with a broken heart and it is very hard to write this, even now. I don't suppose there will ever come a time that it will be easier.
I know how much she loved you all, how much it meant to her to have met such wonderful people, and how much it meant to her to create & share her art with you. I am leaving her work here for a while, as tribute to her, her beauty, her talent & her love.

there's darkness in it because of the gravestone & raptors & shadows (and the woman's dark gown), but it has a crispness & clarity & beautiful grain, and it feels like a deep winter night with no wind or pollution where everything shimmers quietly. Beautiful work on the trees in light, and that lattice-work is a magical touch. I know you know more about this than I do, but raptors are considered, in some traditions, symbols of opening the soul (breaking in and flying away with the debris), and they can auger great liberation. You always put beauty even in your darker images, and this is a beautiful example. (Like the way she looks over her shoulder too, as if something called her and she—without consternation—gently turns to look...) Another sensitive piece from you, which is no surprise. And ditto on Obama: A new age has begun!

Very effective black and whites in this Gothic image. I love her dress. The birds are great. I cried like a baby off and on yesterday watching the inauguration. I'm so thrilled that Obama won the election and am glad that I could see this monumental historic moment in my lifetime. It's great to see so many have hope again.
