Description

[best viewed full sized] Shot taken from the view point of Holme Moss, West Yorkshire, overlooking the Holme Valley and town of Holmfirth which is the location for the TV programme Last of the Summer Wine. This was in early September, and one of the early shooting trips with Chrissy, aka BibbyBear. Although it may look quite peaceful it was actually very cold and windy being in such an exposed position, and we didn't stay around too long. I don't think that it is ever not windy up there! Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are more than welcome!

Well, at least you were brave enough to face that bitter wind, I remember staying firmly seated in the car due to a bad back!! I loved this shot when you took it, I loved this shot when you showed me via MMS but I REALLY love it now that I can see it full screen and in all it's glory!! The gorgeous blue of the reservoirs/lakes adds an extra focal point to the stunning rolling countryside that goes on for miles and miles. There is such depth to this shot and the composition is superb displaying a great use of rule of thirds. I find my eyes are exploring every part of this landscape and discovering something new all the time. You definitely have an eye for landscape photography and benefitting from having such beautiful landscapes local to you, this is a genre I think you could quite comfortably excel in. An excellent shot that serves as a wonderful reminder of that day we spent together. Huge hugs babe. Chrissy xox

Oh, what a VIEW! Excellent shot .. I would get this printed and hung on a wall. It's one you can look at for a long time, like Chrissy said, and find something new every time.

A cracking shot Carl, I remember being broken down in a snow storm, top of Woodhead Pass, I was sat in the vehicle for six and a half hours till a tow truck could get through, no engine ment no heat, bot was I glad to see them. Although this is a little bit further over, it gets the same sort of snow when it does happen, quite a different view then. This really shows of the rolling hills of Yorkshire, I have an afinity with both the red and the white rose, my mother was a Yorkshire lass and fath'r was a Lanky. Excellent capture and wonderful saturation, the grass looks so lush. Bravo!!!!! 5++++
