G8F to V4/A4 Pose Transfer

Product Notes

I present for your consideration a pose transfer script that will allow a G8F Pose to be transferred from G8F to either Victoria 4 or Aiko 4.

To use, apply the pose you wish to transfer to G8F. Then load V4 or A4, and run the script. You will need to identify V4's/A4's hip in the upper drop-down combo box, and G8F's hip in the other combo box - this is a result of my rudimentary scripting knowledge preventing the script doing this automatically. Finally, press the 'ACCEPT' button, and with any luck you will be delighted with the transfer. It is highly likely that you will need to tweak the pose a little, but probably not much more than if you had applied a G8F base pose to a G8F character.

I do hope that someone will find this script to be of some use.

Regards,

Richard.

Works with V4.2, but throws an error when using the plain ol' V4.

No worries! Thanks so much for taking the time to look into it. I'm absolutely sure I'm making the correct selections in the drop down boxes. I guess it's just not going to work for me.

@TheArtist2020 : I have tried my original script and downloaded the version from this site and done a comparison between. The file dates are identical, the file sizes are identical. I have run my version and it gives the result I expected. I have run the script downloaded from Renderosity on the same input, and get an identical output. I cannot get an error when selecting the hip of the V4 character and the hip node of the G8F character from the dropdown selection boxes in the script window. I am now using win 11 and DS4.21.0.05, and I get the same result as when I wrote the script using Win7 with DS4.12. I have been able to provoke a similar error to yours, but not at the same line you get the error from, and the way I did it was to select the hip wrong character in the drop down selection boxes in the windows. Then I got an error at line 52, but the error was the same. I have also tried a G8F in a group, also with geografts to try to get other errors, but I' afraid I can't reproduce the problem you have had.

A few years too late, but thanks for this (and for all the free content you provide!). Actually, I can't seem to get it to work. I get an error message in my log file each time I attempt it: 2023-08-25 06:55:00.625 [INFO] :: Loading script: D:/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/Scripts/ChestnutP/G8FPoseTransferToV4.dsa 2023-08-25 06:55:13.274 [WARNING] :: Script Error: Line 348 2023-08-25 06:55:13.274 [WARNING] :: TypeError: Result of expression 'oZRotCtrlV4' [null] is not an object. 2023-08-25 06:55:13.274 [WARNING] :: Stack Trace: ()@D:/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/Scripts/ChestnutP/G8FPoseTransferToV4.dsa:348 2023-08-25 06:55:13.376 [INFO] :: Error in script execution: D:/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/Scripts/ChestnutP/G8FPoseTransferToV4.dsa Is it just that it doesn't work with DAZ 4.21? Or is it a Mac/PC issue? (I'm on a PC) Thanks!

At the moment, I only have DS 4.12, so it certainly works on 4.12. As for the pose transfer to Poser - I have no idea what-so-ever, sorry. I gave up with Poser (it was Poser 4) in 2005 and haven't touched it since. Once the pose is on V4, I imagine it would be taken into Poser the same way as any V4 pose, but what the actual method is, I have no idea.
