Subject: 'On Vacation' message in IM

A cut and paste from the vendors forum_ ClintH suggested I post here as apparently we haven't this function_ any chance? Hi all, newbie vendor question_ Is there any way of giving an 'away on vacation' message to anyone attempting to contact you through IM? I returned from 2w vacation to a series of increasingly frantic (and laterly angry) mails from a purchaser who had a problem with one of my products (he'd intended to use it commercially in a project with a deadline_so i sort of understood his angst!) It would be nice to be able to put a message on such as 'back from vacation on ...' It wouldn't have solved his problem but it might have looked less like I'd tried to fleece him and run!!

it would be a good idea, and i second it, but he should have noticed he never recieved any message saying "message recieved" as you usually get from the IM system, therefore, he was kinda a dunce to think you were avoiding him specifically...

I think he was an infrequent (? new) member so may not have known the 'ropes'. Anyway we've made contact and he's seems happier! I guess I ought to start using the function in Outlook as well!
