okay, Stormrage complaining about not getting them. I'm complaining cause it defaulting to sending me ebot messages. and I don't want them. get forum ebot messages by default unless I click to not get them. changed my forum defaults to not get them and still get them by default. why can't I get rid of ebot messages?

It's the curse, Jaqui... You see, back in 1902 they buried dead people under where the Renderosity server now sits... Over the last two years those restless spirits have risen and seek to destroy the minds of the members by such things. I recommend performing a standard excorsism. Follow the following steps: 1. Dance about naked with sandalwood burning. 2. Chant "I am not a beach ball. I am not a beach ball." Until you feel the power of the holy surfers flowing within you. 3. Eat a piece of cheesecake. This step isn't really necessary, but cheesecake is yummy. 4. Invoke the ancient latin phrase: Homine Domine Eskimo Fritos. This will summon the power of the good pink ponies to aid you in your struggles. 5. IM fur and mention the issue to him ( if no one gets back to you in this forum in a timely manner, that is ). 6. Eat another piece of cheesecake. Cheesecake is REALLY yummy. 7. Hop up and down on one foot using expletives to scare the evil rosity spirits. I personally prefer the phrase, "G%D&MN M#T#$%U*&ING ROSITY!" 8. If none of the above works, keep trying, only this time take pictures and post them in the tavern. =) Paul

heyas; they were always set to be on by default, and you always had to click the thing to turn them off. now, lo and behold, there is an area where you can set your forums to visible, and turn your email notice preferences to NOT send you any. which is, by default, set to off. so.... if you go there and leave them off, they stay on. go figure. my guess (although i'm not brave enough to try it) is to set them all on, and then turn them all off again. then, finally, maybe, the notification will be off by default. then again, after clicking it automatically to turn it off for like 3 years, i'd probably end up turning them all on all the time :/ the good (?) news is, that ebot now seems to use your real email address to send you stuff.

bloodsong, my problem is getting ebot messages even when clicking to off in the forums. I also have the habit off= clicking off the box. tried your suggestion, nope, recommend do not do that, it will ebot you every time new thread starts. ( only got two during time clicking them back off...thank the lords )...abd still have to click the box off in a thread. still getting ebot messages even after clicking to not get them on threads I posted to. ~pulling out a flamethrower~ where's the cheesecake? I hate cheesecake.

Cheesecake is yummy... Did you try IMing fur? He can be a bit slow to respond because they keep him chained in a cage with the server, but in my experience, he's pretty smart. ( For a person I truly feel does not exist ) Paul

The check box on the forum setup page is yes or no for an e-mail to be sent when there is a post to the specified forum, not for the ebot notification box in your reply. I'd rather be able to turn off the reply ebot.

Jaqui ( ) posted Mon, 22 July 2002 at 11:39 PM

yup wyrwulf my complaint exactly, specially as I still get ebot messages after clicking not to when posting. not always but about 25% of the time

heyas; jaqui, the ebot must REALLY hate you. um, or it's madly in love with you..... at least i dont get messages when i uncheck the sucker.

Jaqui ( ) posted Tue, 23 July 2002 at 7:19 PM

ok imed fur with this thread link....wonder what the semi mythilogical person will do? configuring script for our site...php based site. post-nuke, so all the features but none of the bugs...best viewed in ie for some strange reason. mozilla likes it but netscape doesn't

fur ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 7:22 AM

ok, i double checked the database for Jaqui and everything looks in order. please note, that the page with all of the checkboxes only controls whether you are emailed on NEW posts. you had none of these turned on, so i don't know how you got any emails from those. you had eight messages that you had checked the 'email on replies' so anytime someone replied to those you would still have gotten emails. i've turned those off to avoid any confusion, so as it stands right now you shouldn't be getting any emails (unless you post something new and leave the email on replies checked.)

Jaqui ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 11:55 AM

okay. though I don't remember leaving it checked for getting any emails on reply.

Entropic ( ) posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 4:47 AM

See? Pretty handy for someone who doesn't exist, eh? Of course, I don't think you'll ever see this message, cause you won't be e-mailed to learn that I've replied. sigh Paul
