Subject: internal organs

csatlos ( ) posted Thu, 04 July 2002 at 8:05 AM · edited Sat, 07 December 2024 at 10:05 PM

I work with forensic pathology and I wonder if anyone has a library of internal organs for POSER.

If not I would like to know with wich 3D-modelling software you would recommend to build your own pose-able hearts, livers etc.

My plan is to make semitransparent characters with visible innards and then more easily visualise injuries and bullet trajectories.

Any help is welcome.

Over and out.

Anything you are comfortable with. Rhino is an easy one to learn.

Try 3d-model-world.com. They have a nice unified set of viscera, which you can separate out with a modeling program.

Interesting! I had at one point debated creating an internal organ set to sit within Poser figures_ (I'm a medic and had thought it would be incredibly useful for medical illustrators and perhaps visualisations for patient education/ biology texts etc) I don't think accurate high detail anatomical models would be that easy unless one used something like the A.D.A.M CTscaned model as a basis for modelling. I'm not sure the market would be large enough to make this a 'cheap' project! I agree that Rhino wopuld be a good place to start!

Attached Link: http://www.cgcharacter.com/ulthuman.htm

i'm not sure how much it would cost to buy the models, but cgCharacter has made some very high quality models of the human body that are 100% anatomically correct. You could look at those if you wanted, though I'm sure the price would be fairly high. It wouldnt be too much trouble to then poserize the models.

Wow darkpheonix they look good! Certainly saved me wasting my time attempting to model that!(tho I note its only musculo-skeletal) no vascular/nervous-s/respiratory etc

darkphoenix ( ) posted Thu, 04 July 2002 at 10:55 AM

heh, maybe they just havent gotten that far yet.

Try http://www.reebosmeshyard.com/ Free organs etc in 3ds, importable into Poser. Fairly basic but useful as a starting point certainly. :] FishNose

I think ockham meant 3D Models Shop. They carry a number of Poser figures, but the anatomy set is only available in .3ds, Lightwave, and DXF formats.

hey, those are pretty cool too. the whole site seems decent enough, cheap medium res models. Thanks for the link.

If I remember correctly there are some pretty good innards at 3D Cafe, too.
