She looks amazing, Mehndi. As always. The effort you put into all of your products really shows. When are we going to see that hair?????

Mehndi ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 12:50 PM

Thank you Eirian :) Lord... that hair. Well... I have been of two minds on that hair. Just shoot myself and be done with it, or bite the bullet and somehow get it done. Thing is on that hair... I could include another limited functionality version with Dancer, like I did with WoodElf... a perfectly good hair prop with some morphs to customize it... though then I would need to raise the price on Dancer a bit, since each time I include an LE version of the hair in something I have to face the fact that I may be costing myself customers for the full version, since some might not understand the differences and so choose to not buy the full version, or some might think they can get by with the LE version and do not need all the full posability of the full version. So I am having alot of confusion on it all as far as a marketing strategy for Dancer... with or without an LE version of the hair. As to the full version, though I keep wanting to get it out the door, and I keep being so very close, it is still VERY far in terms of manhours to get it fully working correctly. There are alot of parts to work with, each needing joint limits set, each needing blend zones adjusted, each part needing morphs built for it, etc. Not to mention all the MAT/MAT/MOR files needing to be made to make it easier to achieve certain looks faster. It's a process :) So... what are your thoughts on it? All of you?

I don't know if I'll be buying Dancer, simply because I already have so many female figures. I haven't decided yet if Steph is worth the investment to me. I guess it's possible that you would lose some customers with the LE preview, but surely that's a matter of marketing. I mean, I have the LE version of your Ultra Salon hair with Wysteria, and between that and the full version there's simply no comparison. It's like comparing posette to Vicky 2...which I imagine was the whole point. If your marketing shows how much more functional the full version really is - and I know your work, Mehndi, so I know it'll be worth waiting for - I would be surprised if you lost many. A character with hair included is invaluable to newbies. And to those on a limited budget. That should gain you customers, not the opposite. Swings and roundabouts, maybe? I'm just on the edge of my digital seat waiting for the full version! As I said, I'm confident it will be worth the wait...but goddess, the wait! :-)

I'd like to see another LE version of the hair, even if it raised the price of the Dancer... but in an effort to keep people wanting to buy the full version, why not take off the braids, and the bangs? Just the scalp part and the back? So that it would be a pulled back from the face long hair style... make it a static hair prop without any morphs, people could always make their own if they wanted to... and only include one hair color... shrug The hair colors from the woodelf would be usable with the dancer hair still, right? Since they're the same mesh with only a cosmetic difference. I know a lot of people are still waiting for that hair. :)
