The meaning is perfect... no need to change the composition itself at all :) One thing you may want to do is to give some more attention to the legs, specifically where they join the hip. Also, he looks kind of weird without genitals, but that's just my humble opinion - you may want to put a ragged pair of shorts on him if you're not going to go for genitalia. Otherwise, something besides carpet (stone flooring?) would complete the scene nicely (the carpet-like texture tends to distract the eye a bit :) Well done so far, though! /P

I think the meaning's pretty obvious. I'd suggest losing the floor, leaving the cage in more or less mid-air -- "fear of the unknown", as it were. There's something really nice about the position of the lighting, but it's not being explored to its fullest yet. Maybe turn the POV a little to the left, so we see the guy in slightly more profile, which will put a darkened edge on the backside of this, thus pulling more attention to the more brightly lit front -- and then, to the key.

The post-render work is going to include darkening of the genital area, so it won't be obvious anymore. I am not too pleased with the background yet myself, I need something though, because I would like to keep the shadow that shows the top of the cage in the back. Maybe rotating it will do good too, then the genital area will be less noticable (if at all). It's really fun trying to move the scene and not have the bars shadow obscure something I want to show, hehe. I am going to look for something more 'desolate' for the ground, like bare earth or sand maybe. Thanks for the comments, I will take all the advice I can get. This is my first (of many, hopefully) pieces.

The expression is excruciatingly good. His left hand could use a little tension, I think. Cracked, parched earth would be nice. I think Eye Candy plugin does one.

Look in Freestuff for Poser till you come across something advertising 47 New Textures. It's a French site (with an English translation) with tons of great rocky ground type textures.

This is a striking picture, he looks so desprate, sad, and alone. Great compostion. Sharen

I threw a spin on the POV as suggested, I think it looks better now too. It clears up the genital and leg issue. I found what I think is the perfect background, the parched landscape was a good suggestion, I wanted desolate. I am waiting for the final render now (35 more minutes on a P4-1.8G) so I can start the post render work this evening. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. =)
