I've had Bryce 5 since it came out, and I like it, but I'm having one particular problem which is making use Bryce 4 instead. When I start a scene in Bryce I might make a few objects, assign a few textures and after a few commands of whatever, I go to select a material and this is what I'm presented with, no materials. If I restart Bryce they come back, but only for a while. This is really frustrating me. And I installed the 5.01 patch, and it still does it. Any clues?

New one on me, only time I got that was when I tried it on insufficient ram. I'm running 512megs ddr at the moment, ran around 256 pc133 before and 128 pc100 before that. Anything below 128 seems to be a problem. If its not your ram, then you got something else to deal with. Uninstall and reinstall B5? Backup your presets of course. Call tech support? Best wishes to ya.

Oh, just an oddball question. If Bryce can't find your preset file, I'd ask if you are experiencing any other hard drive problems. For example, do you sometimes find the file directory (fileman or winfile) unable to read the drive where Bryce is? Check to make sure the ribon cable is secure in the MB and the drive. I did get a glitch similar to this with that problem once a long time ago.

I'm running it on an AMD 600, 448 MB of SDRAM, Windows 98SE. You brought up a question for me. I have 2 separate harddrives on my computer. One of them is partitioned in 2 parts, it's empty. I have a shortcut on my desktop for them, and for on of the drives, it wont work, I have to explore the drive through Explorer, even the shortcut in My computer wont work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it twice. And all my cables are secure. HMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! This is driving me nuts. FrUsTrAtEd BrYcE uSeR kaom

I am having a similar problem since installing the 5.01 patch. I can see the presets all right, but the names and descriptions disappear and occasionally reappear. Also in several wizards and editors information won't show (e.g. in the material editor all the slider values are missing unless I right click to see one, and it disappears after that.) Reinstalling the original 5.0 versions fixes it. JWB

This was happening to me before the patch. I'm totally ata a loss. For now I'll just have to keep using Bryce 4, at leat it's stable as rock for me. This really bums me out, I's really like to do some stuff with Bryce 5, but this glitch is enough to make me close it and not use it. I've tried reinstaling 5 without the patch, and this still happens everytime within 5 minutes. kaom

Hmmm, odd that you all relate this to the patch. I ran the beta patch and have no problems at all on winME. Ok, maybe I'll get the release patch and see what happens.
