Given that most of the clothing I use in P13 is dynamic (since it is fairly easy to adapt it to other figures using the fitting room), the fact that P14 has lost the Cloth Room is a huge factor for me.
The release announcement states:
"we’re actively exploring new solutions, and the Cloth Room is very much on our roadmap for possible return in future updates"
That's a bit too vague for my anxious streak.
Could someone please elaborate on this, preferrably someone from the official Poser team? What options are you considering? Do you have a timeframe within which you're hoping to implement a replacement?
(I mean, the cloth room has always been kind of a PITAS to work with – no multi-core or GPU support, a series of cumbersome steps to follow, lots of dials to adjust, etc. So I'm not crying if it's replaced with something better. But a complete loss of the feature ... argh.)
I'm not sure whether the gap could be filled with Bullet Physics, but I hope you do have something in the pipeline.
An official statement would be much appreciated.

They are looking into new avenues for a cloth room replacement.

Just realize that we are heading into a weekend after a major US holiday. The earliest we should expect an answer is Monday.

To be absolutely clear: I was not demanding immediate answers. I would just like to get an official statement to help me with my purchasing decision. If there is a solid committment to bringing some form of Cloth Room back within, say, the next six months, I'd purchase a P14 license now just to motivate/fund this development. But I do not want to throw money into a well.Just realize that we are heading into a weekend after a major US holiday. The earliest we should expect an answer is Monday.

The experiment posed Unimesh was barely swallowed, so let's wait and see.

If you're happy with the P13 Cloth Room, I'd recommend sticking with that while we explore new Cloth Room tech. We don't have a hard timeline to deliver that and would rather get it right than get it done fast.

Thank you, Tim, for the clear and honest response. "Happy with the Cloth Room" doesn't quite cover it, but I heavily depend on it. :)
I will keep an eye out on further developments and await further announcements on the matter.

That is a concrete and honest response. Poser 13 it is for the foreseeable future.

Bondware's Poser 14 release note:
"We've added some render/shader cosmetics, that are open source to begin with,
and we removed the cloth room, but considering some kind of a replacement for it in an uncertain future.
you're welcome and charge you 99.95$ for it"
I have always said it and I say it again:
Poser is scam-ware!

If Poser 13 continues to serve your needs, why not stick with that? Personally I'm ... well, not "happy with", but satisfied with Tim's honest answer. I also appreciate the fact that the Poser 14 announcement contains the caveats it does – instead of having to find out after purchase.
The term "scam" would only apply if these things were not addressed head-on. Which they are. The marketing of Poser 14 may be far from perfect, but dishonest it is not.

Every vendor will give a big annoucement on his or her newest creation. It's part of the "game", it always was. On the other big site, how many times they do "big annoucements" just for people come on their site and maybe buy. Often by the word "freebie", which aren't.
Now to be back here. Nobody is forced to jump into Poser 14 without reading first what is about.
I think you made your point in several locations that for you Poser is a scam, a zombie... Beginning tiring to see always the same refrain. Let other people interested into Poser 14 giving their opinions, that they like it or not.

Wow, definitively not in the spirit of the season, aren't you? We can only guess it's 24/7 all around the year, but that's your business.
People want to read what is linked to the topic, meaning here Poser 14 and the Cloth Room. Not your thoughts finally out of the topic according your rant but not surprising at all.
And I'm between the people reading this topic not necessarily for myself. But wishing to read on said topic if somebody has something worthing to say about. Nothing about your ideas or fantasies.
I can be tough on some topics sometimes, Rendo team maybe remembers that, maybe not, with the revolution years ago.
But here is a master. Go, continue alone on that way. You won't take the joy from the others.
moatmai posted Wed, 03 December 2025 at 5:32 PM
Let me get back on-topic by quickly summing up the current state of affairs:
1. The initial release of Poser 14 does not include a cloth room.
2. The inclusion of a new dynamic cloth simulation solution is being actively considered by the dev team. This is most likely to be an existing simulation solution.
3. As of yet, there is no fixed time frame for the inclusion of a new cloth simulation solution in Poser 14. The goal is to find a good solution, not a fast fix.
hborre posted Wed, 03 December 2025 at 5:52 PM
The other alternative is using Bullet Physics to run a cloth simulation, except the Bullet Physics feature is broken, probably due to the removal of the Cloth Room.
Richard60 posted Wed, 03 December 2025 at 5:59 PM
The cloth room was in Poser from Poser 5 and Bullet was added in Poser 2014/10 so they have no code in common. Bullet being broken is due to them using the latest version of Bullet and something was missed in the conversion most likely.

Just my personal experience: You can do a cloth simulation in P13 and save the scene, then open it in P14, and P14 will correctly display the draped cloth. Render as desired.
Warning: P14 seems to die every time you try to save a scene with dynamic cloth. So, make any scene changes in P13 if you can.
The old cloth room dynamic simulator was copyright by Size 8, if I remember correctly; Bondware/Poser do not have legal right to modify it. It will have to be replaced in toto. Use the aforementioned workaround in the meantime.

Yeah, I remember the cloth simulation being something Curious Labs brought in from an external source (iirc, the Face Room was also third-party technology).
Has anybody been able to check whether VWD works with Poser 14?

Unless it's been updated to work with the latest Python version, I would doubt it.

There is a trial version in the free section that you can test with. I remember there were posts about it being updated so it might work. you can try.
