Poser peeps~

Let's get a thread going in which you use lesser known or older Poser figures in your renders. Let's see images featuring figures like Project Evolution, Pauline, Mankahoo's Bella, Apollo Maximus, 3Dream's Raffael/Rafaella, Vyusur's Nova and/or Neo characters, KEZ/KOZ, Antonia, Miki and others.

You could also include A3 although there's an extensive thread in this forum devoted to her, so let's focus on other figures that could use our love and creativity, ok? If you've created unique morphs or textures for those characters, please be sure to showcase them and explain your workflow for getting there.

Get set, get ready, GO! Let's bring our oldies but goodies back to life and inspire others! Note: of course Renderosity's Terms of Service apply when it comes to nudity, etc., etc., so please keep those in mind.

Let's have fun!

Red, thank you for starting off with a great render! I haven't used Alyson2/Alyson ever (I have used Apollo a number of times though) but you've inspired me to dust them off and see what I can do!

Don and Judy (both with hair from Ali) and Roxie.

Anim8dtoon posted Sun, 28 September 2025 at 7:30 AM Forum Moderator

A_Sunbeam, your renders of those legacy characters are awesome! I especially like the second one, as to how Don, Judy and Roxie are actively engaged in a convo in the neighborhood. It makes me want to eavesdrop on the conversation and find out just what they're talking about .... maybe the new café that just opened recently? Politics? The latest gossip about old Miz Barkley? Or the hot Broadway show that's rumored to come to town? Whatever the topic may be, this render intrigues me!

This is Erogenesis Project Evolution - a wonderful model, one of the best.

Hair is "Wild Hair", Wishbone chairs and table  are from 3dsky, Wine and glasses are  from cgaxis. The bangles are by Afrodite-Ohki. And the curtains from P13-Romantic bedroom. Dress, shoes, windows and the rest of the room I did myself. And I dialled up the character as well.

EZSkin is working but only partially: skins (if I remember correctly: arms, legs, torso, head and lips) are correctly set for the diffuse bitmap but it actually cannot detect the corresponding bump maps, which you have to  manually connect. IN my case, the poor Kaylee went completely white and glowing lol.
For the eyes: Ghostship's free package is ok. I have not touch the other parts.

The best way is to save it on the library, under the Material tab, and from there to change the different skins by drag and drop. even though you may create a new setup under EZSkin editor (where we have to choose what to use for each part)

Ryan 1 (Poser 8 figure).

Disclaimer:  I have asked Anim8dtoon to get permission to post in a Poser-related forum.  And she is kind enough to allow me.  This is not a Poser render. I have not used Poser since version 8 (long ago)....so this one is a Blender render.

I picked Ryan as the subject as he is probably the least used figure (he is also rather frightening when he was first released at least to me at that time).  Now I'm much older and mellowed out so I decided to challenge myself for this threat and work on him.  I have not been active in a long while so this a great nostalgia thread to participate in.

Workflow:  Obtain Ryan 1 mesh from old unused Poser content folder. Object file format.  Removed eyelashes, teeth, eyeballs, basically just the skin and fingernails (I may have to get rid of that too as I screwed up and it separated). Worked on sculpting in Blender.   Toned down the Ryan texture so it looks blurred and softer.  Instead of hair textures, used hair particles for lashes, eyebrows, etc.  I have only gotten as far as the face.  But I made him wear stuff to hide the rest of the body so it's okay for now.  I hope to post more as I progress.

A very old sculpt of the Poser 4 "Dork".

Or to be more precise, this is the remapped version by AprilYSH that can use Michael 1/2 textures.

For this render, I used a converted Stephanie 1 texture.

Done before the Morphbrush existed, so it was made by using Poser magnets only.

Strictly speaking not really an 'Official' Poser figure, but still 100% Poser figure in the sense that it was built in and for Poser!

Also, thank you for the invite. I'm very flattered to see PE showing up here a few times <3

erogenesis posted Sun, 05 October 2025 at 2:00 PM

This is from a comic I made back in 2014. In this comic, my main character Lali (who at the time was based on V4, the other girl is Julie) saw that nobody was paying attention to the lecture. The crowd in front are comprised of Roxie, Rex, Dawn, Ryan, Jessie, James and G2 (V6). So Lali shouts "SEX" to get everyone's attention for the professor. Instead the professor gets all grumpy and tells her to leave. So she leaves and then goes up to the projector room, and replaces the slide with a very juicy porno picture!

Rendered in Poser Pro 2012 I believe.

BTW that I made that lecture hall especially for this comic. I should actually put it up for sale!

Ryan 1 (Poser 8 figure) cont'd...

I fixed his ears somewhat. I went a bit overboard with morphing and made Ryan's ear even worse. Showed my coworkers the first post I did and was blasted for screwing up the ears...again....in all these years creating, texturing, animating characters blah blah.....I have not mastered making ears; they are the bane of my existence. For some reason I can never really get it right. I thought it will be easier this time as I'm technically working on another existing mesh...but I overestimated myself.    I still have not fixed the rest of his body.   I think I will work on his hands next (at least fix that floating fingernail that I messed up with).  Also fussed a bit on his face which is still a work in progress of course.

I'm determined to stick with Ryan until he gets fully morphed because I regretted ignoring this character years ago (I blame the bad marketing image when he was released). I need to make it up to him as an apology. Now that I'm working on it, I realized that Ryan's mesh is actually pretty good. Whomever did it included the details needed to make morphing easier.  I was too dismissive and too ignorant.

This one was inspired by RedPhantom's fancy Miki render above.  I like medieval/renaissance themes because it's an excuse to wear nice clothes.

I love its detailing which makes it one of my very favorite figures! I forgot to add that the pug dog is a static prop I found on a third-party website.

You can try here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070228165629/http://www.k2.dion.ne.jp/~have/hondara2.htm

Note she was made for 'kinbaku', and her main asset is 4 'rope suits' and the simple hooker garb she's wearing on the image, but of course I cannot show that here on Rendo.

She takes traditional Poser poses well.

Notre the set as it is has a few errors, mainly file names as far as I can remember. It is easily solved, however.

I think this is the predecessor of HAVE's Tuyuko, called Eroko.

She had a detachable face(!), which could be used with other figures to solve the clothing problem.

The inimitable RIKISHI:

A seldom seen side of MIKI 2:

SATOKO is not just a complete figure, but also a standalone head that can seamlessly combined with other figures via custom made neck parts.

Here I used a V2P4 base to make use of an old Posette uniform:

Finally an old custom character based on Mr Maya's MAYA-Doll:

When I first staarted using Poser the opening scene used to be Andy. He was replaced by the first iteration of LF.

Now, of course, he counts as one of our 'Golden Oldies', so I'm posting him in the Poser forum thread featuring older characters (some forgotten).

I felt sympathy for Tuyuko, having only work clothing so I made 'on the fly' some garb for her in CLO's Jinny

For those who ask: The process is as follows:

1 - Export .obj in Poser Native scale. Zero pose.
Preparation of this model: Tuyuko has pubic hair built as facets, part of the hip. This will mess up the fit later. Just select hip, open gropup tool, select pubic hair material and delete facets.

2 - In Jinny open the .obj 'as avatar' , and say it is feet units and need to be loaded at 860% scale. Jinny then recognizes the human shape and adds an (invisible)  'fitting suit'.

3 - In Jinny, go to 'Designer mode' and load, drape and modify as you see fit. I used the default templates: The baggy pants as they are and the t-shirt I cropped and lowered the neckline.

4 - In Jinny hide the avatar and go to 'studio mode'. There check 'export FBX' box (bottom right) and export. This will put a .fbx in your downloads folder and also open CLOI's Closet. There you can delete your upload if you want.

5 - load the .fbx in Poser. Check fit, use morph brush if needed, and apply fitting room, cloth room, or setup room to proceed as usual. IIRC the setup room needs a .obj of the garment so you need to export and load first.

FVerbaas posted Thu, 09 October 2025 at 8:50 AM Forum Coordinator

And, why not, another Tuyuko in freestyle. I made the top a while ago. The skirt is the one of Jinny's default templates, cropped to a more sexy style. Draped in cloth room. Hair is an old freebie for V3. Rest of process as described above.

Correct. I used AI postprocessing on that single image. I made it to demonstrate how even these relatively simple old figures can have a whole new life and be indistinguishable from the latest far more complicated ones.

That' image is the only image for which I used AI for postprocessing. It was a plain enhancement in Krea. All the other images are either raw or just conventional filtered

in Camerabag2, PaintshopPro 2023 or older, or Krita g'mic, none of which, to my knowledge use AI

This is interesting...when you say "re-envisioned" you mean...you created Marlin again with genesis figures?  I've only known one other artist that did that....he recreated his character using M1, then M2, then David, then M3 etc....each figure has different geometries but he managed to maintain his character's "looks" through these figures.......I would go insane just thinking about attempting to do that...

Here is my image of ShvrDavid's Pauline Advanced figure, who comes with more features and morphs than the original Pauline. She also has morphs by Erogenesis built in. Rendered in Poser 11 Pro Superfly using AO-Wolfnom's RenderKnight script with Tempesta3D's Asami textures, using Afrodite-Ohki's Key Light 01 and Infinite backdrop from her Level Up Superfly product. Lua Updo hair by 3Dream, available in the RMP. The "Photo Studio" backdrop is by Enax, which was available in the Freestuff area but doesn't seem to be anymore. The Breast Cancer Egg is a very old freebie figure from DAZ with one of Vince Bagna's fabulous glass Super Shaders applied to it. Last but not least, the marble pillar is from Sveva's Fantasy Pillars and Stands in the RMP.  Enjoy, and please keep your wonderful renders coming!

Very nice render, except the head skin texture doesn't match the rest of the body.  Either the shader is poorly set up or the skin textures are mismatched.

Thank you, Hborre! I realized that about the head texture after uploading the image. It could be the lighting or something because in other renders using that same head/body texture and different lighting, they matched up just fine. I'll go back and fudge around with it and see what I can do.

Here is a screenshot of one of the promo images from Tempesta3d's product page for the Asami character. In that image, her head texture appears to be slightly different from the body~

I have seen mismatches in body textures from other authors.  It may not be prominent in Firefly rendering, for example, but you will see the difference in Superfly.  You need a keen eye to spot the discrepancy.  Sometimes, the shader(s) may contain glaring, unintentional mistakes that are introduced as a hack.  For that reason, I manually inspect all the material shaders and make identical corrections where needed.

How would you correct the discrepancy in Superfly, Hborre? I render my images exclusively in Superfly; I can't remember the last time I did so in Firefly. Thanks for any help with this!

hborre posted Sun, 26 October 2025 at 7:38 PM

I gravitate towards using Cycles for Superfly renders because I have strict control over the shaders in the Material Room.  But you need to use the correct nodes corresponding to each root node and render engine.  I wouldn't use the PoserSurface node for Superfly; you will see some strange effects with Cycle-related nodes. Replace it with the PhysicalSurface node, which can accommodate both legacy nodes and some mathematical Cycles nodes. Using legacy nodes in Cycles-based materials may not interact well.

Not really lesser known, but definitely older and, yes, made for Poser.

This is seven times the (almost) exact same mesh.

1. M2P4, a version of Michael that can wear the P4 "Dorks" clothing

2. The original "Millenium Man", here as the "Ruler of Egypt", a set made by Anton Kisiel

3. Michael 2, the 2nd Edition of the "Millenium Man" with a new face and a truckload of additional body morphs.

4. Aiko-Bot, based on Stephanie I. She was "Mystery Mesh" DAZ gave away when you bought Michael 2. Yes, there was an Aiko before Aiko-3.

5. Stephanie I, who was able to fit into V2 clothing by default.

6. Herma, a hermaphrodite character made by Arduino based on M2/Steph I. Fully functional, BTW.  ;-)

7. THE GRIM, a character sold by DAZ based on Michael I/II but with modified rigging.

Also...

MikeTaur, a character I created based on the old DAZ Centaur rigging.

And PosyTaur, made by XAA, also based on the old DAZ Centaur rigging:

Just like me. In 2023, I deleted all Windows installations and switched completely to Linux. Poser doesn't run on Linux. Too bad. I would have liked to continue using it for my AI-generated images.

But never mind.

The first post shows an image that must have been created in 2008 or earlier (2008 is the backup date). As a render...

But there was already a Poser long before that. Here are the Poser 1 male, the Poser 2 Casual Child Hi and the Poser 3 Posette:

And here is a Poser 1 review still online from 1996:
