I just got Vue2, free in 3DWorld Mag, if its possible when ver. 4 comes out I will upgrade, if not I will definetly purchase full, a great program. Look forward to 4!! I do agree with the majority on the new features they desire, I am not sure why companies, can't incorporate some of these simple requests, I mean it isn't that hard to add simple modeling abilities, like twist, I know the programming wouldn't be that difficult. Since I have Vue2 I haven't used any of the animation features that are available, opinions? Well cheers all Nick

Oh another thing the Vue3 feature list says: Build complex hierarchical animations using Forward Dynamics. Is this refering to possible, simple character animation? Explain, basically I am curious about the available animation features in general... I noticed a bend function is available, in the fish animation example, well ok, I think I need to download the Vue3 demo, any opinions, or feature explantions as far as animation goes would be appreciated...

Welcome to Vue Nick :) Sorry I'm not one to ask about animation, but the the fish swimming example is a perfect example of animating a Poser character in Vue. You can create a pivot point for each body group then move it during the animation building process to create the key frames. One thing you do have to watch for is the mesh splitting. On top of that, you can animate materials, Boolean functions, atmospheres, water planes (to create moving ripples) and also objects to create things like a moving piston (which explains the hierarchical animations). One other thing, is that the animation wizard can be used on one frame to create motion blur. Hope that helps, Cheers

I got it too...Bryce doesn't compare IMHO. And I only have version 2. I can't imagine how much I will love version 4!

That was an excellent answer, Cheers, really... I was wondering how that should be answered, but failed to make the connection with the "piston/locomotive" tut. Vue does not interpolate in the same way as does, say, Poser.

Thanks Mike. It is a good job that I bumped in to Nick's post before I went to visit the Poser forum LOL! To be honest most of my animation experience comes from reading the manual, although if you ask me about motion blur that would be a different matter. I love the motion blur, and use it whenever I can :D Cheers

All I've done, animation-wise, is the tutorials. I know I'm not getting all out of it as I could.... Che.... Mike ;)

Nick, welcome to Vue! There are some folks around here that use the animation features more frequently. I'm not one of them, but I know they're around! :)

Yes, Nicholas, welcome! I seem to have forgotten my manners earlier. Most of us don't use Vue for animation, so that is a problem, but some do, and equally, some do have the answers. Vue is still young.... Otherwise, in spite of Vue's limitations regarding animation of objects, the material and water animations are very cool. The Vue 3 tutorials show that, and I'm sure that Vue 4 will offer even more.... Were I you in this time, I would just wait for Vue 4 to come out, which will be very soon.... probably....
