I have V4 posed in Poser 11. Now I need to point the hip or entire figure to an OBJ that contains an updated UV map.

DAZ Studio allows you to change the surface UV mapping of a figure: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/43353/creating-alternate-uv-sets-for-character-meshes-in-daz-studio .. I'm sure Poser can do it too, but I'm having trouble finding out how to do it.

I'm looking for the following equivalent in Poser 11.

  1. Load a figure in DS
  2. Select the figure and in parameters tab under General - Mesh Resolution set resolution level to base.
  3. Export the figure as .obj with Write groups - use figure name and Write UV coordinates
  4. Import .obj in program you use to modify UV. When done, save/export it as .obj
  5. In DS have same figure selected in scene tab and surface tab. &. Click with right mouse button on surface tab (on the letters "surface") to get a menu. From the menu select Load UV Set...(or Edit - Figure - Geometry - Load UV Set..) and a import geometry window will open where you can select that .obj with modified UV. You will be asked a name for new UV.
  6. Check how it works and if you are satisfied save UV with File - Save As.. - Support Asset - UV Asset(s)...

Hi! What, in general, are you trying to do? What is your end goal?

Poser does not allow you to use multiple UVs on a figure. There is no equivalent feature in Poser.

Hi! What, in general, are you trying to do? What is your end goal?

I load V4 In Poser 11.

I GOZ V4 to Zbrush and make heavy deformations.

Then I goz the modified V4 back into Poser.

Sometimes V4's UVs will need adjusting after heavy deformation in Zbrush, so I want to use a new UV mapping to fix problem areas.

It's crazy that DAZ Studio which is a free program has this functionality and Poser 11 does not, lol.

Okay, I think I found a solution. I think I can edit the CR2 files and have them point to a new V4 OBJ file with the new UV mapping, then edit it back to default when I'm done. I hope this works. It sucks I have to resort to a hack job.

I think I'm going to have to make the switch to DAZ Studio unfortunately if Poser doesn't catch up technologically.
