Thanks, Mark. This was the first time each team got two genres and could do either one. (In the past, if you didn't like your genre, you could draw from a "Wildcard" list of less common genres, but no going back). We drew the pair Fantasy and Slapstick, neither was high on my preferred list, but Slapstick was out of the question. Way too much character animation for a two day contest. So I tried to blend my large steampunk collection into a bunch of Particle Illusion effects. I think it came out OK, but a lot of other genres would have been better ... even Western which most people hate. It and Musical are the only two genres that have always been paired (the team could do either one), and still most teams have taken the Wildcard. Although one team did a memorable Musical Western that was great.
