We're going to try an ongoing series of Autodesk Maya tips. Below is the first. These will range from beginner to advanced. Add your comments or questions in relation to this tip, or post your own similar tips!

Tip: Use hidden channel box virtual sliders and keyboard modifiers to speed up your workflow!

  1. Select an object and make sure the channel box is open.
  2. Left click to select one or more attribute names in the channel box.

You can select the attribute names or the value fields. It doesn't matter which. Use ctrl click to select multiple attributes, or shift click to select a range of attributes.

  1. Hold the middle-mouse-button and drag left and right in Maya's 3D viewport to change the attribute values.

Hold down ctrl while dragging and Maya will use a fine-grain virtual slider that changes attribute values slowly. Hold shift and Maya will use a coarse attribute slider that changes values quickly. The virtual sliders themselves are never visible in the Maya viewports, but the attribute values will change is if they were.
