Subject: Nea 3 makes a step back

Nea 3 would be a total reshape of the face area with a lot of polygons slides

There is a post back from 2012 with the WIP

However since this would make all existing morphs and textures break this should be shifted to  version 4 with new morphs and UV.

So Nea 3 will be mostly an update to include the changeable UV between Victoria 2 and Posette skins plus some alternative geometry body parts

Some work has been done to the face shape but not in polygons position

Micro corrections on the nostrils, eye and lip area

As a reminder I have to mention that Nea is a figure based on Poser 4 woman Posette

A low resolution mesh for todays standards that accepts Victoria 2 textures

another side by side comparison between Nea 2 and Nea 3 the changes are subtle but I believe give a smoother look and add realism

This is the progress of the whole Nea Project from Posette with Victoria 2 skin to Nea 1 and than to Nea 1 P4 that was a morph For the Nea 1 with Posette skin This was the base for Nea 2 and here we are today at Nea 3

I like the slightly less angular bone structure on Nea 3.

pitklad posted Sat, 19 April 2014 at 8:57 AM

I am also thinking about making small changes on the body shape

but I'm afraid that Posette cloths wouldn't fit perfectly than...

booksbydavid posted Sat, 19 April 2014 at 7:44 PM

Really do like the changes to Nea 3 face. Very nice.

momodot posted Sat, 19 April 2014 at 9:01 PM

you should go for it and make the figure exactly as you want it. Poser 4 clothes are robust and scale well. If you make JP changes the clothes should work with rigging from a donor CR2.

pitklad posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 6:28 AM

I am not gonna tweek the JP, just the shape of the body

maybee I'll do that and include shapes to go back to Posette shape

I would love to try weightmaps on Nea but is seams like it needs a lot of time to setup

My FreeStuff

MarianneR posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 11:01 AM

Maybe you could try weightmapping only the big joints, like shoulders and thighs and not bother with the fingers for example.

pitklad posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 2:29 PM

MarianneR  I agree with you about partial weightmaping

I'll have to search for tutorials about this as the automatic method converts all the joints at once

My FreeStuff

MarianneR posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 2:42 PM

Select a body part, say the thigh, and open the joint editor. Choose Bend, Twist or Side-Side.

Press the button "Add" and you get four choices, the last one is "Merge Zones to Weight Map". Then you can start painting. :)

I tried this a bit with the P7 Kate figure but didn't have the patience to finish it.

Edited to add that this is PoserPro 2014

pitklad posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 3:01 PM

Thanks for the image this will help me to start! I have loaded some weighmaped figures but never used them at the extend to understand how they workand how clothes work with them

For now there is still job to be done with the third version of Nea

I'm reworking the body UV to accept Victoria 2  textures better than previous Nea versions

Also as soon as I get to the final face shape all existing morphs should be tested and if nessesary reworked or deleted

I'll post the body changes in the next days

booksbydavid posted Sun, 20 April 2014 at 9:07 PM

Weight mapping in Poser isn't difficult, but it does take a bit of practice. The good thing is you can work on one side and then use symmetry to take care of the other side. Saves a lot of frustration. :)

pitklad posted Tue, 22 April 2014 at 11:35 AM

Does the weight map information gets stored on the character file? So that the same file can work with other obj files too?

By the way here is a preview of the alternative animal feet

MarianneR posted Tue, 22 April 2014 at 2:41 PM

Yes, the weight map info is in the cr2.

pitklad posted Tue, 22 April 2014 at 4:36 PM

Cool thank you! So I can make changes on the base obj while working on the weight map...

Here are the body changes I'm thinking to include on this version

And a front view

The  buttock got smoother and tighter

At first I also lifted those a bit bur Posette has long thighs and they looked even longer

The thorax is narrower but waist kept at the same size as it is a Posette signature body shape part

Nice to see you still at making Posette like figures better. Reworking her to use V2 textures is a great offering. Posette had some ugly body bends on her so I am wondering if these changes are going to fix some of them. It will be nice seeing how she will render in the newer Poser versions. Of course just adding V2 textures will not be enough to make her stand proud beside V4 but good textures bumps and reflection mapping should do the trick if the body shapes are brought up to speed. look forward to seeing what you do for her.

BTW the hot link to your freestuff age does not work.

I have version 2 I think, don't think it's available anymore. Used to be at sharecg, no longer. It was a RTEncoded customization (in progressive versions) of Posette. There should be some threads buried here somewhere from a couple few years ago and there's some dead links and discussions at Posette Forever.

One weirdness I have noticed is the poses force a geometry switch from Hip 0 to Hip 1, which makes the texture look strange.

SamTherapy you are right, it seams that poser includes the geometry change channel of the poses.

So when you use Posette skin body dial for example it tweaks it.

I'll update it ASAP. Thank you so much for the feedback!

Hey piklad, sorry yo bother you. I have an issue with NEA 3. The V2 texture I tried on her doesn't line up correctly on the hip region. Probably something I did wrong, It was pretty late when I was trying her out. Any thoughts?

pitklad posted Tue, 23 January 2018 at 4:37 PM

lonelybat1989 as SamTherapy reported above this is probably because the included poses include the channels for the alternative geometry.

along with the inclusion of OBZ version of the RTE file the poses also were updated so you can re - download to replace the poses.

utility poses to set alternative geometry
