Hi,
I am working on an animation that is a bit tedious. want one charcter to grab and pull another.
I did find if you take a target helper, parent it to, say the hand of one character, and set the IK Tracking of another character (say their hand or foot) to the target helper, the leg or arm will follow.
Has some limitations, heck I found that 'Kathy Hair' at some point in the animition started to go through the scalp (other hair held up better).
Either whay, since I want the whole body to be controlled, I want to see if I can group the body and then parent it or some thing like that.
If you have thoughts, love to hear them.

I'd have to play with this. I don't think the grouping will work because it will treat the heirarchy of the character as a single entity and simply move the character around the group Hot Point.
Not sure why the hair would be slipping after adding an additional THO for IK tracking.
I may have some time to experiement later today.

Thanks, yes, I am trying to figure if this is possible in Carrara. My current projects would be hampered by not being able too and trying to manually track the body part is not very easy to get good looking results.
Thanks for giving this a try!

There are some ways to accomplish this. Structuring the scene correctly depends on the kind of motion you need to create. What exactly is interaction between the two characters?

I have a scene where a creature picks up my main character (a v4 DAZ model) by the ankle and lifts her off the ground. I did the us the trick of parently a target helper to the creatures hand and then for the left foot ik termination on my character I assigned the target helper. It worked to some degree.
I had to do a lot of adjusting and tweaking (and that hair thing was a pain) but her ankle stayed convincingly in the creatures hand.
This may be the only way. Other scenes may include one character picking another up, so that may be simpler.
Ideas?
