I just downloaded and installed Dawn and purchased some of the items for her (basic poses, etc...).  But when I try and apply any pose to her, this is what happens.  She works fine in Poser but in Carrara she looks like a cubist painting. 

This happens when I both load her directly into C8.5 and import her from Poser.

Anyone else having problems with the new girl on the block?

 

P.S.  It happens in C8.1 also... just checked.

You need the DazStudio version of Dawn. The Poser version uses Poser weight mapping which isn't supported in Carrara. I believe Fenric did did make a free plugin for Carrara that worked fairly well for importing P9+ figures, but your best bet would be to use the DS version.

Your problems are just starting. Once you are using the right version of dawn you will find that autofit wont leave her alone and screws up most any clothes you put on her.

Autofit is a good way for DAZ to stop you from using any nonDAZ new figures; even if they have a Studio version of the figure or if you use fenerics plugin. Autofit is automatic and designed spacifically for DAZ figures and no others. So there is no way to "fit to" with out autofit screwing it up.

Good thing I didn't invest heavily into her.  Just wanted to try her out and take her for a test run.  I'm happy to stay with my reliable V4.  Vroom, vroom!

That was my experiance with Genesis in the C8.5 beta. I tried to work with genesis but usually ended up back with the mil4 figures.

Once I got Dawn in to C8.5 she worked as well as Genesis for posing and such. But autofit screwed up most; not all, of her clothes. Since there is no Dawn shape for autofit to work with it sets clothes to a generic genesis body shape.

I know some one was working on this but not sure if they ever completed it. You might check on the hivewire forum because it had to be done for her to work properly in studio. So don't abandon her, check around and make sure you have the basics to use her in studio and she should work as well as genesis in C8.5; which really isn't saying much ;) But she doesn't work to well right out of the box.
