This could interest some of you. I post an image on the fractal section, were I described the use of Fiji and voxel stack to create obj file from an image.

I have also seen 3d object reconstruction technique by using multiple images with different focus points. The article mentioned microscopy, but maybe it would be useful in general.

I don't remember where I read that, but its probably easy enough to find with a search if you are interested.
