Greetings,
I have Carrara 7 Pro + Daz Studio and have been trying to morph some areas on the V4 quick start body. I do not want to creat a morph target, just change some areas on a character that I can then animate.
The V4 body does not behave like the primitive objects that are used in all of the tutorials.
I want to add, morph, and change the polygons in the modeling/hexagon room.
Where can a learn about working with pre made DAZ characters in Hexagon?
I am willing to pay for these tutorials, but not even Mark Bremmer covers this issue.
Thank you very much!
Gordon

Hi Gordon,
If you want to modify V4 in Carrara you'll need to first select her geometry.
Basically, open up Victoria 4.2 in Carrara, then expand the hierarchy in the instances tab. (Lower right hand corner; click the triangle next to "Victoria 4.2")
Highlight the word "model" on the list, then switch over to Carrara's vertex modeler. (Click the wrench icon on the top right of your screen)
Once you're in the vertex modeler you can sculpt V4 to your liking; just don't add or remove any vertices as this will mess up the rigging.
When you're finished, switch back to the assembly room and you'll see the changes you made reflected in the figure.
If you want to try this with Hexagon, then it's a completely different animal-usually referred to as an External Morph Target. I know how to do this with Poser, but not Daz Studio :(

Need help saving V4 in Carrara 7 - Vertex Modeler & sending back to Daz Studio 3
Thanks for your help about Hexagon, what I meant was Vertex Modeler.
I am able to import V4 4.2 and change the ploygones on her body without adding or changing any verticals (what ever they are?), but I can not save her correctly and import her back in to DAZ Studio 3.
In Carrara/Vertex room, after selecting "Model", I changed some polygons then saved the cr2 V4 4.2 figure as a obj, and as a 3ds file. I accepted all the default savings that came up when asked to save these files.
I did a search for new files in DAZ Studio 3, and imported my new cr2 file (I could not find the 3ds file).
The cr2 file came up looking ghostly but I was able to add mats on her so she looked good, and the changes I made looked great.
The problem was that now she would not animate in Animate 1.5 in DAZ Studio, she would not move at all.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thank you very much!
Gordon

You need to export from Carrara as a morph... I think you will need some Morph tool in DazStudio to import the mesh as a new morph for Vic. A simple OBJ dont animate, dont have bones.
