Just curious to know if anyone has attempted to create a cumulonimbus cloud in Carrara ?
This has the typical blacksmith's anvil shape on top, and extreme turbulence below that (contributing to the vertical curtains of cloud underneath the anvil top).
I was thinking that it could be done with volumetric clouds, but these would have to be in the far distance of the scene. Furthermore, how could you create the turbulent cloud formations underneath the anvil ?
Maybe my question could get some creative juices flowing with someone ?
regards,
Andrew

In other programs, generating cumulus clouds is typically done with a fluids generator - which Carrara doesn't have.
Cumulus themselves can be done with a spline base shape and a couple of surface replicators using spheres with custom texutres. It takes sometweaking to get the right look but is very do-able. What would be a little more difficult to pull of is the soft, misty look. For that, a clout object would be the best. integrating the two might take awhile.

I can see that the Primivol plugin clouds (Inagoni) would give better potentials though.

Mark, where do you suggest the replicated spheres would come into it ?
Brian, that plugin looks like it might be useful is that available for all versions of Carrara ?

Looks like an atomic blast. The gray on the orange really stands out. How many replications? I'm looking for the pattern.

Quote - Just a quick wip experiment with the Primivol clouds andthe surface replicator.
(The gray clouds)
Need to have 3 different cloud colours in the separate sections

Both Marks method and yours are great!
I will also have a serious look at Primivol ;)
