I created a model of the Hindenburg a while ago in Carrara 4. I'd like to use it in Carrara 7 but have encountered conversion problems. Some of the geometry shows up other parts do not. I'd like to work with the model because I spent a lot of time on it. Is there a way to make this conversion so that the model comes in cleanly. I still have Carrara 4 on my machine. Thanks!

Can you convert it to an .obj in Carrara 4, import that into Carrara 7, then select an object in the .obj, go into the vertex room and convert the "blank" page to vextex modeling? I've found that you can convert various .objs back into vextex modeling, one object at a time. Jan

will give it a try. Thanks!

That's weird. It should just open as a CAR file. Unless you are missing plugins.

I did save it as an OBJ and it translated poorly. The Carrara 4 body of the Hindenburg was a spline object and I converted it to a vertex object. It still does not show up in 7 but all the other pieces do. Its really weird.

Wow! I made a model in Raydream 3D saved it as an .obj and it came up just fine in Carrara 5 Pro. Even converted several splines to vertex using Carrara 5 Pro vextex modeling room. Can you save the .obj as a .car in Carrara 4 and bring the .car aboard Carrara 7? It is very possible that the .obj is defective. Jan
