I am looking to make a fight scene and i would like to put in a fireball (a la street fighter) but what ever i try it looks rubbish, could any one point me towards a tutorial or suggest any good settings to make a great looking fire/energy ball

Thanks

yes i have looked at that, i remember someone on here saying you could fake it using a bulb light and sphere

This is also a good use for the Old Volumetric clouds. Is this the  look you have in mind?

I have been trying to figure out how you have done that all day, and have failed, care to help a struggling renderer and its maker by sharing the settings? :D

Check out the file - it's easier than explaining. However, certainly ask questions after you've had a chance to review it.

After downloading  the file, remove the ".txt" suffix from the file and then open in Carrara.

Also, the  little sample I posted is fully animatable although it currently has no animation in it. DCG's Enhance C and Shoestring Shaders have some excellent procedural shaders that can be animated too.

Here's one I did a little while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh1fjYeiatU

Don't forget some of the stuff available in the effects tab when a light is selected. Sometimes playing with those gets interesting results too.

Now go hit your opponent with a hadoken while they're still busy charging their hamekameha. :)
