Just a thought... I know of a Mac user (OS X) that reported having trouble with some TrueType fonts in Carrara. Some font makers issue different versions of their fonts for Windows and Mac. Do you know if there's more than one version of the font file available?

CaptainJack1 posted Thu, 21 May 2009 at 12:45 PM

Also, FWIW, I found a knock-off font called "Phoenix" at Abstract Fonts (http://www.abstractfonts.com/font/244) that looks very similar. You might try downloading that one and see if it works. I'm not sure that anyone would notice the difference.

i use a mac, its quite possible that renderosity uses only pcs ... so i'll look into it thanks!!!

On Macs, they have some kind of font manager. Such that you have to "turn on" the font. I think it's something like Extensis Suitcase or the such. It's been a while since I used a Mac though, but I remember some things from using them at school a few years back.

On a PC, as long as that font is in the Fonts directory and is of a type supported by the software - it should work. (Although in a few cases, it may also need a reboot first.)

I guess part of that is that Macs have a longer history with publishing for the most part. So if you had a huge font library, controlling what fonts are loaded makes sense. (Imagine starting PhotoShop or InDesign if you had over 1000 Fonts that loaded.) So by using a font manager it is possible to turn on and off customized groups of fonts in addition to individual fonts. (As where on a PC if you get too many fonts, you have to poke around more and move things to and from storage folders manually.)

You remember me that whi have CoreDraw installed can use Bitstream font navigation, that do what you said: create groups of fonts to be used, but in truth this is a little old in new system... I have a lot of fonts here (Maybe almost 500) and all softwares load without problem... I think that in Win it create a cache list for the fonts... But never have a problem loading a TTF font in Carrara.
